What brand of herbal [or NON-toxic) product would get rid of dust mites?
Dust Mites August 29th, 2011I can’t even tell you how effing sick I am of this God-awful problem. Yes we vacuum, wash/bleach sheets on a reg. basis, don’t eat in the bedroom, but just started about a yr. ago, for some odd reason, there’s dustmites in there! We do live in a very old house though.
ARE THERE SOME NATURAL products that are pretty effective to rid them COMPLETELY? thanks!

It is for all intents and purposes impossible to get rid of them completely, The only thing you can do is control them and keep them in check.
To do this, make sure you have a dust mite proof mattress cover as well as dust mite proof pillow encasements and maybe a dust mite proof encasement for your blankets if they are thick. Make sure to wash the blankets, sheet’s curtains etc with detergent like Allersearch Allergen Wash (there’s a link in the sources) which will definitely help. You may want to wash all of your clothes in Allersearch. It’s natural as far as I know. It’s also very safe. Also, vacuuming doesn’t help unless it is a HEPA *sealed* vacuum and Miele makes the best available. Again make sure it’s a "Sealed" vacuum. Lastly there are some sprays and powders for your carpet that will neutralize the dust mite feces which are really what cause the allergic reactions, not the dust mites themselves.
I’ve tried using multiple, powerful HEPA air filters and they help a little, though washing my clothes, bedding and curtains with Allergen Wash seems to be the most helpful thing I’ve done out of everything I’ve listed.

Well one product I know of is fabreze allergen reducer it cuts down 75% of dust mites. Other then that Im sorry all I know about is cleaning techniques like make sure to vacuum under the beds, dust blinds, wash curtains. if you have carpet you may want to rip it up and put down hardwoods or at least shampoo the carpet once or twice a year. You can also vacuum your mattress i like to use the turbo brush atachment for that. Air purifiers work great too, I think they work the best in bedrooms or small rooms and if you have the door closed it works even better.
