What if I have bed bugs and I live in an apartment?

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2011

Help!. I think I have bed bugs. I live in an apartment, and I have a shitty land lord so I know I have to take care of it myself, but if my neighbors have them won’t they keep coming back?

I can’t afford to move. What should I do?

Bed bug problem?

Posted by admin on December 17th, 2010

Last week I found that I have bed bugs. I automatically knew it was my neighbor – I live in a condo building. My neighbor is an old man who has clutter EVERYWHERE. His place is a wreak. He has multiple rental units and brings stuff that people left to his place. It’s just plain nasty. I had an exterminator come yesterday to spray and he also had to check my neighbors place, who happened to have hundreds behind his headboard and his place was covered in black droppings. The exterminator found about 30 live ones in my place. Who knows how long he had them. My HOA is forcing my neighbor to have his place professionally cleaned, even though he wanted to do it himself. My question is, I know I got them from him but I can’t prove it. Is there any legal action I can take if they come back again? He’s a dirty old man and I know this is going to happen again in a matter of time when he continues bringing things and strange characters into his place. Is my only option to move??
This is a CONDO, not an apartment. I own this place, as well as my neighbor. I don’t have a landlord but I do have a HOA, home owners association. I am responsible for my extermination costs unfortunetly since I’m an owner. The exterminator said he can’t prove it, but it’s more than likely since he is infested worse than I am. Luckily I’m staying at my parents, where i can actually get a good nights sleep.

How is it possible for 10 little crickets to be in the center of my bed under my sheets, in a well made bed?

Posted by admin on December 7th, 2010

When I was little, about 6 years old, we had many neighbors friends that had kids also. We played with them and hung out together. One weekend my family and I went away for the weekend, which was pretty typical. When we got beck from this excursion, it was at night and when I went to go to bed I pulled back the sheets and there was a cricket my bed! I called for my Dad and told him there was a bug in my bed, so he killed it and got rid of it, and then he told me to go to bed, and to not worry there were not any more bugs. Then as I pulled back the sheets some more there were 10 little black crickets all bunched up together in the middle of my bed.
How did those crickets get in my bed and where do you think they came from? I never though about that experience for sometime, but now I am thinking that maybe neighbors had placed them there. I was a very pretty little girl and maybe they were spiteful. I was a good, polite and kind little girl. What do you think happened and or where or how did those crickets get into my bed? I and my family are still friends with the neighbors. I don’t think they would fess up to braking and entering into to our home to do this. What is your opinion?
Please no insulting comments, I find this disturbing. Don’t you? I thought these people were our friends! What do you make of it? Is it possible for all those crickets to get under my well made bed, under sheets, blankets and a bed spread?
To tell you the truth, I don’t remember if it was a weekend, a week or even two weeks. How long does it take for crickets to hatch and grow?
And also, how many little crickets do adult crickets typically have?
These little crickets were not super small, they were a little bit longer than a 1/4 inch in length.

Itching, bites, but no bugs?

Posted by admin on October 29th, 2010

My uncle was living with a roommate a few months ago. His roommate brought stuff in the house that was from the garbage. My uncle ended up with an infestation of bedbugs, fleas, earwigs…weather it was from the things brought from the garbage or from neighbors of the apartment building he was in I am not sure. The roommate moved out but bugs were left behind. The management had his unit fumigated twice, other apartments were also fumigated. But the first time did not work, he got fumigated a second time. After the second time my uncle was still complaining he was getting bit, this after him throwing out his bed, couch and lots of other furniture. My uncle was getting real stressed out to the point of break down. He was sleeping on crates because he had no money to buy another bed. I opened my home up to him and he moved in here temporarily with nothing but the clothes on his back. The things he does still have are in storage at a storage facility because I did not want to risk getting any type bugs in my home. We moved my teenage daughter to an upstairs bedroom and let my uncle move into the renovated basement we built this past spring. There were never any bugs there because it was built for my daughter and she never complained.

About 4-5 days after he moved in he started saying he was getting bit. In bed and while sitting on the couch down there. My husband and I were not very happy because we did see the bites, it kind of looked like a mosquito bite. 3 days in the row he would tell us this and we checked his bed, looked for all the signs of bed bugs and didn’t see anything. Looked everywhere turned everything over, box spring and all and did not find a thing. Then we checked the couch and did the same and did not find a thing. But then we were thinking since we didn’t find signs of bedbugs maybe it’s fleas which are much harder to find and smaller. We used bug sprays, vacuumed, tonnes of laundry, it worked for a day or two but then he started saying he was getting bit again. So I looked on google and with my research found something called Food Grade Diatomaceous earth. It is safe for humans and pets but is razor like for bugs, cuts them then dehydrates them. We sprinkled that stuff everywhere downstairs. We used ALLOT of it. Left it there for 4 days then vacuumed. There is still some on his bed and in the carpet just not as much. He is still complaining of bites, and we do see the bites on him. We looked again for signs of bedbugs, still nothing. I am at my witts end. How can you kill a bug if you don’t know what you are trying to kill? My husband and I spend our evenings down in the basement with my uncle and do some catching up with him and enjoy his company once our children are in bed. We never got bit or feel anything. I have asked my children if they have felt bites or anything they all have said no. I have asked my visitors and they have said no. I would think it’s all in his head and he was imagining things because of the bad infestation he had and lived with for months, but that would not make sense because I have seen his bites. One person mention to me that it could be scabies. I am not sure exactly what scabies is and isn’t it catchy? He has lived here almost a month now and we are all fine. My uncle is going out of his mind now and seems like he starting to go into a depression because of all of this.

I have a cat and he has no fleas at all, both my husband and I checked him more than once.

Does anyone have clue on what kind of bugs this can be? Is it my uncle who has bugs or my house? Please help.

High-rise building condominium rules about bed bugs extermination?

Posted by admin on April 2nd, 2010

Couple weeks ago I called to our condo Association and asked if they could help with bed bugs that I had just discovered in our bed. They offered the professional exterminators who came same day and found a bug or two in the bed. When I asked the Association who would pay for their work they said that the owners are responsible. I found out that I it would cost several hundred dollars if not thousands, and we cannot afford this expense. So we bought the bed-bug spray in the Ace Hardware store and worked all day with it. Bought the mattress and box spring protectors, disinfected everything around the bed. And canceled the extermination service. Now our condo association insists that we use the exterminators’ service at our own account and if not, they will make us pay for the extermination at our neighbors’ unit (who recently moved in and supposedly brought those bugs to us, not the other way around). I regret now that I contacted the association because now we have to deal with them. I figured that to pay their fine would be less expensive than the extermination service… Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Suing Neighbor for bed bugs ?

Posted by admin on August 24th, 2009

Is it possible to sue my neighbors for bed bugs ? Recently my house was raided with bedbugs and all my tenants got bites from bedbugs. They had to throw away their mattress, rugs, and other expensive items. My tenants and other neighbors are pointing fingers to my next door landlord in my block because he keeps his house in horrible condition and puts his garbage with no lid. Apparently this landlord had bed bugs before but tried to kill the bed bugs using commercial products ( I was told by one of his tenants). I hired a bed bug exterminator today and that sh*t cost A LOT! I was wondering if there is any way to prove that it is his fault my house is raided ?

Bed Bugs- New apartment is infested. How do I get rid of them!?

Posted by admin on August 13th, 2009

I didn’t even think these bugs existed in the US!

I just moved into an apartment complex, and the place had little bugs crawling around. I asked my landlord to spray, and he did. But I’ve done some research now, and I know they are bed bugs and they need special treatment.

Is there anything I can buy to kill them and stop them from coming back? They must be in my neighbors’ apartments too.

HELP! I can’t even sleep in my own place. I’ve been staying at a friend’s.

I’m 99% sure we have bed bugs, but we have never found one!!?

Posted by admin on June 7th, 2009

We have been bitten a lot, but not as much as many of the stories/pictures I’ve seen online. Both of our adjacent neighbors have bed bugs as well. We have been treated and are treating our clothing also. My question is: Do bed bugs travel, bite, and leave? We have yet to find ONE body. We dont have the fecal matter anywhere. We dont have bloodstains on our sheets. But we know theyre coming in. Do they come in from their ‘nest’ next door, bite, and go home? We thought it was possibly dust mites until we talked to the neighbors last night. Any thoughts?

My neighbors had bed bugs and had to throw away their mattress. How do I prevent them from getting in mine?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2009

My neighbors across the hall had bed bugs and I saw them dragging out their mattress to be thrown away because the bed bugs had colonized inside the mattress. How do I prevent them from getting inside my mattress or box spring?? My mattress cost me about ,500 and I really don't want to face the thought of disposing it.
