Does anyone know a way to get rid of bed bugs?

Posted by admin on June 27th, 2011

Okay so I just redid my room and I got new furniture and a new mattress. A few nights later I started to get bitten and they couldn’t be mosquito bites. I just got bitten and ran to turn the lights on and I found a bed bug. I’m so grossed out but I have no idea how to treat this. Can someone help please?

what does it mean when i wake up with bug bites, but my spouse who shares the same bed does not?

Posted by admin on May 10th, 2011

A couple of months ago I started waking up with bug bites which itch, they look like mosquito bites. The weirdest thing is that my spouse does not and we sleep in the same bed! I changed the bed sheets, sprayed bug spray around our bedroom, and every other morning I still wake up with a new bug bite. Again, only I get these itchy things that look like a mosquito bites and Im starting to think I have bugs in my body.
Can anyone give me a medical explanation for this? Is this normal or do I have human lice???
the bites that i get are more like mosquito bites and they appear in random places on my body(like i have one on the tip of my nose and another on my leg and two on my arm) NOT in groups of 3-4. And they are red bumps, there is not sign of an actual bite.

What is the difference between bed bug bites and the chicken pox?

Posted by admin on November 28th, 2010

My neice seem to have gotten a weird rash with bumps all over her arms, and it slowly spread to some other parts of her body. Well about a day later my son got bumps all over his arms and it slowly spread to some other body parts. About two days after that, my husband got bumps all over his body but they vary how they look, they look like mosquito bites but all over his arms, and some look kinda like small pimples, and my sons look that way too. I took them both to the hospital and they said they all got chicken pox. Well then a day after my husband got it, I got it, I have bumps all over my arms and it’s slowly spreading to other parts of my body. Now I believe they are bed bugs bites because we recently moved into a new home and about a week ago when we woke up in our room we saw some bed bugs crawling on the walls and when we killed them they were full of blood. Now it does look like chicken pox but it also looks like bed bugs and it’s kinda a coincidence that we all got it this way (oh and the neice lives with us with her mom, and her mom doesn’t have it), I know the pox travel by air but still if anyone could tell me a difference then I might be able to figure out what is going on.

1 bed bug. a problem?

Posted by admin on November 25th, 2010

ok so yesterday i woke up with 4 bumps on my arm which i thought were mosquito bites but then they were raised higher than mozzie bites and looked a little more red. i decided it wasnt anything to worry abt and then i saw an adult bed bug crawling on my WHITE bed sheet. u can imagine my horror! i managed to smash it in a tissue and the stuff that came out was brown not red. i looked around the bed for more bgs but cant seem to find any. i’ve slept on the bed 2 times since then and i’ve had no new bites. is it possible that it’s only 1 bed bug that was present and i killed it?

i’m not very rich and really can’t afford to get exterminators plus my room is really cluttered and it’s going to be a nightmare to clean EVERYTHING. Please don’t reply with scary answers. I hated sleeping on the bed the last 2 times ( an afternoon nap and one over night) but since nothing has showed up on my bed or on my skin…. is it safe to assume that it was just one bug? i feel itchy just thinking abt them.

also… anyone with any cheap solution to clear them out? my dad suggesting putting garlic arond the edges of the bed. i don’t knw abt u but i’m not sure abt how i’de feel sleeping in a bed smelling like garlic. my boyfren doesnt seem to care so this is up to me to solve. does diluted dettol spred arnd the edges of the bed work?? pls help guys…

Itching, bites, but no bugs?

Posted by admin on October 29th, 2010

My uncle was living with a roommate a few months ago. His roommate brought stuff in the house that was from the garbage. My uncle ended up with an infestation of bedbugs, fleas, earwigs…weather it was from the things brought from the garbage or from neighbors of the apartment building he was in I am not sure. The roommate moved out but bugs were left behind. The management had his unit fumigated twice, other apartments were also fumigated. But the first time did not work, he got fumigated a second time. After the second time my uncle was still complaining he was getting bit, this after him throwing out his bed, couch and lots of other furniture. My uncle was getting real stressed out to the point of break down. He was sleeping on crates because he had no money to buy another bed. I opened my home up to him and he moved in here temporarily with nothing but the clothes on his back. The things he does still have are in storage at a storage facility because I did not want to risk getting any type bugs in my home. We moved my teenage daughter to an upstairs bedroom and let my uncle move into the renovated basement we built this past spring. There were never any bugs there because it was built for my daughter and she never complained.

About 4-5 days after he moved in he started saying he was getting bit. In bed and while sitting on the couch down there. My husband and I were not very happy because we did see the bites, it kind of looked like a mosquito bite. 3 days in the row he would tell us this and we checked his bed, looked for all the signs of bed bugs and didn’t see anything. Looked everywhere turned everything over, box spring and all and did not find a thing. Then we checked the couch and did the same and did not find a thing. But then we were thinking since we didn’t find signs of bedbugs maybe it’s fleas which are much harder to find and smaller. We used bug sprays, vacuumed, tonnes of laundry, it worked for a day or two but then he started saying he was getting bit again. So I looked on google and with my research found something called Food Grade Diatomaceous earth. It is safe for humans and pets but is razor like for bugs, cuts them then dehydrates them. We sprinkled that stuff everywhere downstairs. We used ALLOT of it. Left it there for 4 days then vacuumed. There is still some on his bed and in the carpet just not as much. He is still complaining of bites, and we do see the bites on him. We looked again for signs of bedbugs, still nothing. I am at my witts end. How can you kill a bug if you don’t know what you are trying to kill? My husband and I spend our evenings down in the basement with my uncle and do some catching up with him and enjoy his company once our children are in bed. We never got bit or feel anything. I have asked my children if they have felt bites or anything they all have said no. I have asked my visitors and they have said no. I would think it’s all in his head and he was imagining things because of the bad infestation he had and lived with for months, but that would not make sense because I have seen his bites. One person mention to me that it could be scabies. I am not sure exactly what scabies is and isn’t it catchy? He has lived here almost a month now and we are all fine. My uncle is going out of his mind now and seems like he starting to go into a depression because of all of this.

I have a cat and he has no fleas at all, both my husband and I checked him more than once.

Does anyone have clue on what kind of bugs this can be? Is it my uncle who has bugs or my house? Please help.

I have bugs on my bed. Are they bedbugs?

Posted by admin on July 5th, 2010

I watch the news about bedbugs and decided to research them. That same night, I saw the little critter crawl around my bed. It looked like a skinny little bug, like a little black ant, except it had two parts instead of three.

The other day, I saw a fat bug that looked like the little bugs you see crawling in your grain or flour.

I saw red bumps on my breasts, I thought were mosquito bites, and I will freak out if there were mosquitoes.(I don’t want west nile.) Then I saw bumps on my shoulders I thought were acne.

I also saw little blood spots. I thought those blood spots were my period, but there’s no way I would bleed in a bed corner.

What kind of bugs are these? Do you think I have bedbugs? And what are those bugs that crawl into your flour?

Is there any way, that I can get rid of these bugs without getting a new mattress? Mattresses are expensive and I just got a new one.

And how to I prevent them? I’m not very good with hygiene. Does poor hygiene have something to do with it?

Are they dangerous? Are they going to kill me?

What can I use to ward off bed bugs at night?

Posted by admin on July 3rd, 2010

Can I use "Off" Mosquito spray? I also heard you can eat the tip of a match which is pretty much the same that they use in camping for mosquitos. What about a off candlestick would this work for the night? Are there any body sprays I can use?

How can u tell the difference between flea bites, mosquito bites or bed bugs?

Posted by admin on May 14th, 2010

I feel like I’m getting bitten around my ankles lately and I don’t have any pets so don’t think it’s fleas. And I can usually tell a mosquito bit cuz it starts out swollen and turns into a raised bump. These are tiny little bumps that itch. Any ideas besides "cooties"?

Found a bed bug on my bed…?

Posted by admin on May 1st, 2010

Ok so I was sitting in my bed reading when I noticed a small brown bug walking on my bed (towards me). I later read about bed bugs and the bug matched the pictures I saw. I also have been waking up lately with 1 or 2 bites, which I thought were mosquito bites until now. I searched my room for places where they hide, and even sprayed my furniture, carpet, mattress, box spring, and well everywhere possible (with bed bug killer spray). I didn’t find a "nest" so I was wondering if maybe I was overreacting. Is it possible to have a single bed bug on your bed? Because I only had a few bites at a time, which didn’t look like the bites a swarm does (I saw pictures). I slept in my parent’s room for a night and didn’t get bit either. I was also wondering if there was a way to prevent more from coming. I heard vaseline on your bed legs helps but well I’m not very sure. Advice anyone?

I think I have the bed bugs? How is it possible?

Posted by admin on April 10th, 2010

For the past 3 or 4 weeks I have woken up with these mysterious bites that keep appearing every morning when I wake up. I thought they were mosquito bites that came from my bus stop every morning. So I just ignored it for a couple of days, but more and more came in. My cats also had the fleas at the time, but when my mom analyzed the bites, they were too big to be flea bites. Every morning I woke up, I would get more and more bites by the minute. That’s when I started wearing bug spray. I sprayed some on my body before I went to school, but the next morning more bites came in. I was shocked. Most of the bites appeared to be on my feet and ankles. My mom said if it’s not the fleas, they are bed bugs. I learned that bed bugs usually come in when you’re dirty. I don’t see how that’s possible because I take showers every day, and if I eat in my room, I’d pick up the food. So, I bombed my room twice, vacuumed my room and my mattress from head to toe, washed my sheets, and used bug spray, and absolutely nothing helped whatsoever. I even tried making my own bed out of clean pillows, sheets and a sleeping bag, and I lasted without bugs for only 2 days. After 2 days, they fed on me even in my clean pillows and sheets. How many tries does it take to kill these little bastards? Would changing the sheets work?

I am so sick and tired of waking up every morning with new bites! What do I do to kill them? Thank you.
My room is clean, I cleaned it like 5 times already!

How can you tell the difference between a mosquito bite and bed bug bite?

Posted by admin on November 1st, 2009

I have these bites on my hand that I am pretty sure are mosquito bites, but I just had bed bugs so I am not sure. The exterminator just steamed and sprayed the room they were in and I haven’t slept in that room yet. I’ve also been outside a lot lately so I’m thinking they’re just mosquitoes. Any help? Thanks.

how do you know if you have bed bugs?

Posted by admin on August 17th, 2009

i need to know if I have bed bugs before I really freak out. I’ve been getting bitten, once last night, once two nights before, a few times a few weeks ago. i assumed they were mosquito bites, but reading up on bed bugs… that’s what they may be. they only itch when i scratch them or my clothes rub up against them, that’s why i put cortizone and covered them with bandaids.

i just vacuumed every inch of my bed, washed the sheets and comforter and pillowcases. i saw a round brown thing on the box spring which looked like the picture of a bed bug (which i never want to see again), but i vacuumed it up. what should I do next? my room is pretty cluttered so i’m working on cleaning it up, i’ve just read horror stories of these things living in the cracks in the floor and the baseboards and stuff. what do i do next? i’m not positive i have them but the signs point to yes. should i get some mattress covers and new pillows? is there even any point? what do i do?

Has anyone ever had to rid their apartment of bed bugs?

Posted by admin on August 15th, 2009

My upstairs neighbors moved and all of a sudden my roomates room is infested with bed bugs. We threw her bed away and it was all good for like a week. Then I started waking up with red mosquito bit looking things on me. I went online to research what bed bugs bites look like, and that is what I have. Did anyone ever have to get bed bugs out of their apartment? These bites hurt like hell. Please help.

What would happen if a mosquito trys to bite you at the same time bed bugs are biting you ?

Posted by admin on July 26th, 2009

What i mean is, say you have a bed bug infestation, and bed bugs begin to bite you and then meanwhile a mosquito is also in your house and then actually lands on your skin to bite you right at the same time and same area the bed bugs happen to be. What would happen? would the bed bugs attack the mosquito or vice versa? or would they just bite you and not mind each other?

Bed bugs or something else?

Posted by admin on July 25th, 2009

Ok… a few weeks ago I started getting horrible bites at night. After realizing that they weren’t mosquito bites, I started reading and concluded that they are most likely bed bugs. I didn’t see any bugs, even after inspecting my bedroom, until a few days ago… but the bug I saw did not look like the pictures of bed bugs I see online. It is more narrow, and it doesn’t have those horizontal ridges I see in the pics. I trapped one and showed the pest control guy for our apartment, and he said it didn’t look like a bed bug… more like a weevil (which is a pantry pest). I agree, and so does my husband, but weevils do not bite, at least from what I’ve read. So now I’m seeing these little bugs every once in a while, and I don’t know what to do. I don’t really trust this apartment pest guy because he hasn’t even gotten back to me yet (he took the bug so he could research and try to identify it), and that was 4 days ago. I have no peace of mind that this is going to be taken care of, and I can’t even sleep. I want to move away and throw out everything I own. Someone please help me! I’m going insane! Are there different types of bedbugs that look different? I’m on the internet all day every day trying to figure this out.

Is this a bed bug bite or mosquito bite?

Posted by admin on July 23rd, 2009

Hi, I am kind of scared. I don’t know if this is bed bug bite or a mosquito bite. I wake up each morning and I notice that I have a bite or 2 in a random spot on my body. This is not an everyday thing but it happens quite often.

I have 2 bites on my arm, 1 bite on my biceps, 2 bites on my thighs, and 1 or 2 on my other arm. I took a picture of a bite on my thighs and I am not sure if these are bed bug bites or mosquito bites.

It is winter here and lots of snow(Ontario, Canada) and I dunno if there are mosquitoes in this weather.I do have a little crack in my window and I also don’t have a visible infestation on the lining of my bed.

I cover my mattress with my bed sheet and pretty much its tucked in all the way down. I don’t know how a bed bug can crawl out if my bed sheet is tucked in under my mattress (all 4 sides) unless they pierce throw the bed sheet.

I am going to try putting a double sided tape aronnd the edge of my bed and see what happens tommorow morning. Let me know if these are bed bug bites or sumin else?

Thanks
