What are the name of very effective bed bug control products? Any effective pesticides? Pls help!!!?

Posted by admin on September 22nd, 2011

Please give me effective tips on how to get rid of them. My landlord is being cheap and will try again some bed bug spray.. But she did this before and I was still having bites. I told her we can try again, with her spray, but if it persists I am asking her to contact professional. is there anyone there who has been able to get rid of their bed bug issues effectively? Please some tips, especially names of effective control products to use.

Moving is expensive and requires a lot of effort. And my bed, I bought it only about 6 months ago. It was expensive, but I figured it was something I could use for a long time. Even if I move if my bed has some hanger ons the problem would just follow me. I am pretty clean, so its not a cleanliness issue. I did notice gaps in the wood trim.. its an older apt building. I found out there was an old bed bug issue in this building. Land lady said she only had the infected unit sprayed by professional.

Please help! I am having multiple bites per day :( Any good and effective products for this issue?

If I pay for professionals to take care of our bed bug problem, can I legally take it off the rent?

Posted by admin on June 29th, 2011

Okay, we have been living in a multiple apartment complex and have had to have the landlord spray for bed bugs 3 times and I’m still being bitten. Two days ago was the 3rd time within an 8-month period. We caught a live specimen the last 2 times. I cannot find them, but they are eating me up. I’m on medication because of the pain and allergic reaction I have to them. My boyfriend and I are both disabled, and around 60ish and will be moving to Florida in October for good and have been saving a little money to enable us to do this. Moving between now and then doesn’t make sense when we have just a few more months to go. When we called him, he was irate and right down nasty, I was not moved one bit because we pay our rent on time and to the penny, never ever been late not once. However, he did come to spray the next day, but I’m still being bitten even after 2 days. I want to call professional exterminators and pay for it myself and take it off the rent. I don’t want to cause us to get put out when we’re so close to just leaving the state altogether. Can I do that and how would I go about it? Will someone help me please!

Have seen one bed bug 2 months ago, no signs of them now?

Posted by admin on May 24th, 2011

I moved to the new furnished apartment at the end of January. The first night there, I saw a bed bug. It looked exactly like one on the pictures. What strange about it, is that it was around 11 pm and all the lights were turned on when the beg came out. I freaked out and called my landlord immediately. The next day the exterminator came and inspected the mattress. He didnt find any signs of bed bugs, but sprayed the whole apartment anyway. Since then, I have never had any bites ( I didnt even have them the first night) and never seen any blood on the sheets or any other signs. My bf stayed over couple of times, but didnt have any bites either.
Its april now and I was sure that they magically disappeared until my friend told me today that some ppl might get bitten for months and never have any visible bites. She also told me that poison never kills them and if I saw one in January, I might still have them. Help!!!! Im freaking out!!!
Is it possible I have them and me and my bf dont get any reaction? Did I have them in the first place? Is it possible that there was only one bed bug living in the apartment and when I killed it, there were none left?

Bed bug problem?

Posted by admin on December 17th, 2010

Last week I found that I have bed bugs. I automatically knew it was my neighbor – I live in a condo building. My neighbor is an old man who has clutter EVERYWHERE. His place is a wreak. He has multiple rental units and brings stuff that people left to his place. It’s just plain nasty. I had an exterminator come yesterday to spray and he also had to check my neighbors place, who happened to have hundreds behind his headboard and his place was covered in black droppings. The exterminator found about 30 live ones in my place. Who knows how long he had them. My HOA is forcing my neighbor to have his place professionally cleaned, even though he wanted to do it himself. My question is, I know I got them from him but I can’t prove it. Is there any legal action I can take if they come back again? He’s a dirty old man and I know this is going to happen again in a matter of time when he continues bringing things and strange characters into his place. Is my only option to move??
This is a CONDO, not an apartment. I own this place, as well as my neighbor. I don’t have a landlord but I do have a HOA, home owners association. I am responsible for my extermination costs unfortunetly since I’m an owner. The exterminator said he can’t prove it, but it’s more than likely since he is infested worse than I am. Luckily I’m staying at my parents, where i can actually get a good nights sleep.

How did I get bed bugs?

How can I get rid of bed bugs for good?

Posted by admin on August 14th, 2010

OK, I don’t know where they came from but I have bed bugs in my apartment now. I have ended up having to throw away my couch and love seat because I was scared of them and I will be throwing away my bed this weekend.

I have gotten a spray poison from the Feed and Seed store in town and it has been working a little bit. But I am still getting bit occasionally. I moved my desk in front of the big window so that the heat from the sun with kill their butts. I have sprayed all corners and crevices and windows and doorways.

But I need something that will work and get them out of here. I have lived here since November 2009 and just started having this issue this month. I am irritated because I am not dirty nor do I have a ton of clutter.

And no the landlord will not let me call an exterminator because I live in a n apartment an she is afraid of poison going through the vents. So I will be treating it myself.

Any Ideas, please let me hear them.

Am I using diatomaceous earth incorrectly to kill bed bugs?

Posted by admin on July 25th, 2010

In the building that i live in at the moment has a huge bed bug problem. Now I have bed bugs in my apartment. The exterminator came 5 days ago and sprayed. The following evening I was still getting bites. I read somewhere online about DE. I bought a bag and last night put it in a salt shaker and went crazy pouring it all over the edge of my apartment. All around my bed and under the mattress.. Just the whole outline of the apartment. Around the furniture etc. My nose is dry, i have a headache. My cat is very small and I can tell she doesn’t like it. (She climbed all the way to the top of this closet shelve and i just don’t know how she did it! after pouring this stuff all over.
Is this stuff bad to inhale? Is it just as bad as breathing asbestos? My neighbor says i have to leave it for 10 days and then vacuum it. And how I should just bag everything with BLACK industrial size plastic bags and lay them out in the sun so the bugs can heat up and die…I used whtie plastic bags.. and bought some plastic storage containers to store my clean laundry and she was like it’s not good cuz they probably will crawl in anyways.. I am just going crazy! I just read so many different things I don’t know what to do. and I am worried about my cat. And am not too crazy about the exterminator coming back again in two weeks to spray cuz then we will have to leave again for 6 hours .. and i have no money to take her to the vet to hang out. And i have also read horrible things about pets getting sick because of the bug spray.. HELP PLEASE I AM DESPERATE!
Hello thanks for your prompt response. It is NOT the kind for swimming pools. http://www.pcsoutdoors.com/saferbrandantandcrawlingdiatomaceousearthinsectkiller4lbpowder5170b.aspx
This is a link that shows which one I bought.
So tomorrow I will get a mask and vacuum it. Should I put more of it down again? did i just used it excessively? There is this whole ordeal (legally) going on in the building already. The cheap ass landlord is just stretching it. I just wanted to do something extra between now and the next time the pest control guy comes back.
Anybody have any other suggestions on how to properly store linens and clothes? Do i have to consider saran wrapping the containers shut?

We want the landlord to at the ery least pay for an inspection of the neighboring apartments. What is their legal responsibility and what is ours? So far we have pad the exterminators, but we’re not sure who should really be paying. Also, is this grounds for us to terminate our lease and move out? Who is reponsible for paying for bed bug extermination?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010

I live in a 4 bedroom townhouse. We recently found bedbugs in the house which we immediately reported to our landlord. We do not have a written lease with our landlord, just an oral agreement that we will give each other 30 days notice before moving out. The security deposit 00 each. Our landlord is saying that it is our responsibility to pay for the treatment to the house. However, he informed us that 9 months prior to three of the roommates moving in, there was a bed bug problem reported and two spray treatments done to the house. It’s clear that the treatments didn’t eradicate them since most of the bugs were concentrated in the one roommates room that was living in the residence when the first outbreak occurred. Who would be responsible to pay for the treatment? Also, 3 of the roommates had no prior knowledge of the problem before moving in.
1.) He told me about the bed bug issue after I moved it.
2.) There are 4 of us at the house, 3 of us had no prior knowledge that there was an issue one year ago with bed bugs. I have documentation that he paid for the first & second treatment 1 year ago.
3.) The bugs are on every level of the 3 level townhouse.
Correction: The landlord only told the newer roommates about the bed bug issue only now since it’s a problem again.

If the business has had bed bugs for several months but despite multiple exterminations can’t really stop the problem because there are too many fixtures that and interior walls and structure that would have to be ripped out and the landlord finds out does the landlord have the power to evict them?

Moving from apartment with bed bugs and cockroaches to new condo without bugs- how to NOT bring bugs with us?

Posted by admin on March 19th, 2010

Like it says in the question-
last year we signed a lease at what looked like a decent apartment just to find out after we signed the lease that the place was infested with cockroaches and bed bugs. We’ve spent the last year working with pest control companies and fighting against our crappy landlord but there are just too many bugs, so matter how many times we kill the ones in our apartment it doesn’t matter because there are still bugs in the rest of the building to come back again.

So finally our lease is up and my husband, our 3 month old son, scent hound, house cat, 2 dwarf hamsters, and I will be moving out of our disgusting bug infested apartment into a brand new never-lived in condo, without bugs, and we need to know how to move all our things, without bringing the bugs to infest our new home.

We’ll be moving over-sized leather couches, mattresses, the carpeted cat tree, doggie beds, closets full of clothes, luggage, blankets, baby toys, pillows, etc…
and we don’t want to bring the bugs with us.
So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated- thanks!

Bed Bugs . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .?

Posted by admin on February 14th, 2010

Who is responsible when bed bugs are found in an apartment? Is the landlord responsible for getting rid of the infestation? We didn’t have this problem in our last apartment, it happen after we moved – I think the apartment whole building has got it.
How I can be responsible forit when they will spray for every other kind of bug – roaches, ants ect ect . . . .

Also how does one go about proving it was already here? It’s my word against their’s isn’t it?
Bill, that’s why I am on the computer at 3.27am and not in bed. Every time I feel the slightest itch I am out of my bed like a shot of lightening but at this rate I won’t be getting any sleep at all for weeks until I can get this place under control.

I wish I could just drop everything and run for the hills but alas I cannot.

Thanks for the sympathy, I needed it. And I will look into the renter’s rights down here and see what I can find. Thank you.
Zero – I did read through my lease and no where in it does it implicitly state who is repsonsible for pest control, it simply says they can enter your home to spray if you aren’t there to let them in.

Commercial Bed Bug Spray safety?

Posted by admin on January 22nd, 2010

Even tho it is required by law, my landlord refuses to hire a professional to exterminate bed bugs. The company claims they have sent their maintenance crew to train for bed bug removal. They also claim Orkin has provided them with commercial bed bug spray that they are using in our apartments. Normally, the maintenance comes in and sprays around for 2 minutes then leaves. Since my nieghbor and I have recently complained to them about their negligence they decided to soak everything in my apartment today with this spray. They stayed in my apartment for exactly 30 minutes today spraying everything. They have given the tenants memos that state – "The 4 products used are commercial grade, but they are non toxic to humans and animals." However, when the maintenance comes to spray they always wear gloves and face masks. When they were spraying I couldnt help but cough as I could feel it in the back of my throat. My daughter also started coughing. When the guys left I could hear them coughing in the hallway. It has been about 4 hours and my apartment still smells horrible and I now have a huge headache and feel lightheaded.
I just emailed them for the MSDS (material safety data sheet). I have a feeling they will fail to provide it. Does anyone have any idea what it is they could be spraying and if it is possible to spray too much even tho its "non toxic?" I am fed up with these people.

What Is A Management Company’s Legal Responsibility To Eradicate Bed Bugs?

Posted by admin on December 11th, 2009

My friend moved to London and left me responsible for her apartment.

I get a call from the sublettee this morning stating that there are bed bugs in the entire building. This has become a growing problem in New York City.

What do I need to do…on behalf of my friend to solve this problem…quickly. I need to know the law before I call up the management company or petition the building.
1. Subletting is legal.
2. Apartment was furnished…mattress and bed were brand spanking new.
3. Extermination clause…I don’t know.
4. Pia (my best friend) has lived there for 10 years; she handled everything with the landlord directly.

I think you are misunderstanding…someone else in the building brought the bedbugs in…not Pia nor her sublettee. However, they spread from apartment to apartment. The sublettee understandably wants to move out if the problem is not resolved. Therefore, I want to see that the entire building is fumigated. I will take care of the bed and cleaning my self…but I need the entire building fumigated ASAP.

Bed bugs and Buddhism??

Posted by admin on September 1st, 2009

I have been following a buddhist philosophy for a few years now, and I do not kill bugs that I find in my apartment, I just put them in a jar and let them go outside. Now there is a bed bug epedimic in my area and I am pretty sure my apartments have them, and it looks like the other tenants and my landlord are not wanting to do much about it. The only way out of this with out spraying pesticides would be to get rid of EVERYTHING I own and move. I am a student and am quite poor so this is not an easy thing for me to do. I have heard that since I live in an apartment they can transfer HIV from one person to another and other deseases. Just thought I would see how other buddhists would deal with this situatuion.
