When we moved my partner’s bed and couch over from an old apartment building, which has now been torn down, we had not realized that the "bites" which I was getting were from bedbugs. We later found out that others in the "old" building had experienced even worse infestations within their units. I had seen a skin doctor -he thought it might be fleas; I also saw family doctor-she thought it was stress. A year ago, we moved the furniture into my home and since then, I have had a few bites, nothing compared to before. We have found bedbugs live and of course killed them, and continue to vacuum the bed, etc. Currently, we are doing a complete hot wash and inspecting the bed every day to get the live ones-also not using bed now. Short of costly extermination, I thought that if we apply bleach to the areas where there could be larvae, that this might kill "it" before it hatches. Compared to before, I rarely get bitten-they do seem to like me better. Any answers to this?

I just recently got a bad matress and my appartment became infested with these icky bed bugs. I have already bagged and cleaned most of my stuff and chucked everything out that was material that they could live on like my sofa, beds, curtains ect…. and I have requested that someone come in and fume my apartment… but my questions is how long will it take before there gone or better yet when will I be able to have the freedom to invest into some furniture?

I have bed bugs. I get multiple bites on my hands almost every night.
I have enclosed the boxspring with a latex cover, but the bites continue. I've sprayed with Home Depot insecticide, which says on the bottle that it kills bedbugs. I've sprayed every inch of my bedroom with this junk, multiple MULTIPLE times, including spraying the mattress. I've also done the routine of washing all bedding in hot water (I do it just about weekly).
I've spent so much money on this, it's ridiculous, from replacing pillows to paying exterminators to buying mattress enclosures. Do I really have to just accept that insects dine on my blood nightly and smear it on my sheets as they depart? Do I have to move and trash all furniture and belongings? Should I go to bed in a beekeeper's suit? What's a guy to do?

There's a new apartment we want to get. The previous owners left about 2 weeks ago because the bed bugs gave them rashes. There is no furniture left, the apartment is now completely empty, save the fridge and stove. The landlord's wife cleaned it out, repainted it, if that makes a difference. It's been empty for about 2 weeks. The previous owner had professionals try to exterminate them, twice, and it didn't make a difference. Do bed bugs leave if they have no food or humans to feed on? Will there be any bed bugs left, is it safe to move into that apartment? All answers greatly appreciated.
By the way there's no carpet, it's all wood flooring.
