Since about a week or so ago, I’ve gotten bug bites all over my body. Yesterday, my father woke up with bed bugs ALL OVER THE COUCH. We’ve stripped every bed and couch in this house of its bedding, and have yet to find any bed bugs anywhere except for on the couch. We’ve searched and searched again, and hope not to find any more.

We’ve scrubed and sprayed down the couch with some bug spray that specializes in killing bed bugs, and an exterminator is stopping by tomorrow morning to spray the entire first floor… But how can I do my best to gaurantee that the bugs don’t spread? They don’t seem to be anywhere but on and around the couch, but I really just want to be sure. They’re disgusting little things, and it doesn’t help the matter that I’m deathly afraid of even the most harmless bugs.

So, are there any steps I could take?

I just noticed one bug in my bed i ran out and bought all these kinds of bed bug sprays and sprayed my mattress. When i did i noticed little black stains that smeared when i touched them. Is that bed bugs? If so, can i beat them on my own? What can i do? How long will it take to get rid of them? Please help. I dont have alot of money to get an exterminator.

I have bed bugs in my apartment this is the first time i ever have this its annoying i cannot afford an exterminator and my landlord thinks its too much to pay for i have talked to her about this issue millions of times in the last month and she refuses to help! just four days ago i started using my own home remedies i got the iron and started ironing all my mattress and carpet! in the room the steam helped a lot i haven’t gotten bit but i’ve been steaming in everyday i threw away clothes bagged up all the shoes sprayed hot shot on them and closed it my clothes i haven’t done because i don’t have enough money to wash every clothing item and what not i threw out some furniture that was inside the room. Today i am doing the living room i took out my center table and the chairs my dinner table and chairs sprayed them also and I’m gonna do the couch and leave it outside as well gonna try to iron the whole carpet in the living room…. there’s another room too but i cant clean that one as much as i would like to cause we rented but its seems like ever since that person moved in we got this issue i try to clean it when that person is not here but its impossible i wish i could just throw everything in that room away! I’m frustrated i can take it anymore i wanna runaway haha but anyways has anyone used any of their own home remedies and how have you gotten rid of those filthy bugs and cheap products you guys recommend or anything please help!

I’m currently not working and can not afford much of anything.. Therefore, I can not afford an exterminator or even plastic bed covers.

What I have bought is hot shot bed bug and flea aerosol spray.
My concern is using it on my mattress.
I do not own and can not afford a steam cleaner.
Is it safe to spray hot shot on your mattresses and just let it dry and vacuum?
Is it safe to spray on clothes in your home? (not the clothes you’re wearing, but the ones in your closet, drawers, ect.)

I wash every clothes that i have in hot water and put the on dryer
i seal all cracks with tape in my wall and corners
and i check and spray the bed and cabinets none of these method dont work
I dont know what to do this morning i saw one dead bed bug on the middle of my bed when i woke up and had bites on my foot. Should I hired a exterminator i live in NYC please help

Ok so this morning at like 8 I woke up to a creepy crawly feeling on me neck only to find it was a giant roach. Now I am not the average person who might be a little grossed out by bugs…i am TERRIFIED of them..and honestly who wouldn’t be freaked out by a giant reach crawling on them. The thing is it wasn’t just on the floor, it was on my body and my bed where I have to sleep which made it 10x worse.

To give you an idea of just how terrified i am of bugs…I killed it (out of rage for being on my bed, because i usually can’t muster up the courage to kill bugs) and then had to call someone on the phone in tears while I spent like an hour and a half trying to get rid of the dead carcass which I was so sure was going to somehow come back to life. I know I know ‘they can’t hurt you they’re smaller than you blah blah blah’ but in the moment my mind doesn’t process all that logic.

I took a shower and haven’t been in the room since…or went back to sleep -_-. Later I will change the sheets but basically my question is how do I get rid if these freaking bugs?! The exterminator has been in twice and although there are less of them it seems like the reaches have become bigger and more gross looking. now don’t get me wrong my apartment isn’t dirty or anything I’m actually very anal about cleanliness but I think its because there is some remodeling going on in another apartment and the stupid bugs need a new home.

So any ideas..not raid because that doesn’t work…maybe something I can put under the crack in the door so the reaches will be deterred from coming into my room…or in between small cracks and in cabinets, etc.

I moved to the new furnished apartment at the end of January. The first night there, I saw a bed bug. It looked exactly like one on the pictures. What strange about it, is that it was around 11 pm and all the lights were turned on when the beg came out. I freaked out and called my landlord immediately. The next day the exterminator came and inspected the mattress. He didnt find any signs of bed bugs, but sprayed the whole apartment anyway. Since then, I have never had any bites ( I didnt even have them the first night) and never seen any blood on the sheets or any other signs. My bf stayed over couple of times, but didnt have any bites either.
Its april now and I was sure that they magically disappeared until my friend told me today that some ppl might get bitten for months and never have any visible bites. She also told me that poison never kills them and if I saw one in January, I might still have them. Help!!!! Im freaking out!!!
Is it possible I have them and me and my bf dont get any reaction? Did I have them in the first place? Is it possible that there was only one bed bug living in the apartment and when I killed it, there were none left?

I work at a daycare and we found bed bugs we called an exterminator and they only did a treatment in one room. I would like to know what we should do as teachers because my center is kind of horrible and has no guidlines or cares they told us not to tell parents. Who can I call or what action I could take.

i recently started getting bit at night so i contacted an exterminator he determined i had bed bugs so i contacted my landlord and she told me the tenants on the first floor had recently discarded a sofa they got from the garbage that had bed bugs so she contacted terminex and when she found out how much it would cost she said it was the tenants responsibility so i can get with the other tenants and we could split the cost who’s responsibility is it

I have dust mites upstairs and had an exterminator here, but after three days the bugs came back. It is hotter upstairs so I have no bugs downstairs. I live in Arizona where it is very hot.

One way to kill them is to freeze them. Is there any type of spray that I could buy that would tend to freeze the bugs. They are heavy in the mattress.

I just found bed bugs in my bed and my babies bed. I immediately called a professional and got quoted for 0 to treat the infestation. 800 dollars is steep but I’m willing to pay it, but I wonder if I could manage the problem myself. Should I go ahead with the exterminator or try to eliminate them myself?
I was told that the recent ‘bedbug boom’ was due to people coming here from the middle east, soldiers, diplomats etc. bed bugs are so common over there.

For a while, every time I would lay down to go to bed I would itch uncontrollably. I began to think that maybe I had bed bugs, though I had no bites. Not long after that I saw a tiny little brown bug in my room. I killed it and told my family that I thought that maybe there were bed bugs in my room. They didn’t believe me and said that I was crazy. After that, I washed all of my linens and curtains an dvacuumed my box spring and mattres. I haven’t been itchy at night for a long time now but yesterday I discovered three bites on my legs. They aren’t near each other or in rows like most bed bug bite pictures I have seen. I just checked my mattress and box spring and didn’t come across anything too suspicious. No dead bugs or anything like that. There are some stains on the box spring but I’m not sure if they are bed bug stains. I vacuumed the box spring and mattress again and am washing everything in hot water as I type this. I also sprayed the bed with lysol and have my bedroom window open. I keep my room pretty clean and haven’t stayed in any hotels as of late so I don’t know how I could have gotten them. I’m not sure what to do since my family doesn’t believe, me I can’t call an exterminator.

So I’m only 13 and I have a bed bug problem and I’m freaking out. Last week I found that I have bed bugs. I automatically knew it was my neighbor – I live in a condo building. My neighbor is an old man who has clutter EVERYWHERE. His place is a wreak. He has multiple rental units and brings stuff that people left to his place. It’s just plain nasty. I had an exterminator come yesterday to spray and he also had to check my neighbors place, who happened to have hundreds behind his headboard and his place was covered in black droppings. The exterminator found about 30 live ones in my place. Who knows how long he had them. My HOA is forcing my neighbor to have his place professionally cleaned,even though he wanted to do it himself. My question is, I know I got them from him but I can’t prove it. Is there any legal action I can take if they come back again? He’s a dirty old man and I know this is going to happen again in a matter of time when he continues bringing things and strange characters into his place. Is my only option to move??
This is a CONDO, not an apartment. I own this place, as well as my neighbor. I don’t have a landlord but I do have a HOA, home owners association. I am responsible for my extermination costs unfortunetly since I’m an owner. The exterminator said he can’t prove it, but it’s more than likely since he is infested worse than I am. Luckily I’m staying at my parents, where i can actually get a good nights sleep.

we just discovered that we have bed bugs – ugh! everything that i have read indicates that you must get an exterminator to get rid of the bugs; however, we have newborn and i am very afraid to use pesticides in our apartment for that reason – we spend 24hrs a day here. not to mention, i have a brother with autism so i am very fearful of damage that can happen to a child when they are developing. please help! how can we kill bedbugs without harming my newborn?

Me and my fiance recently found out we have a major infestation of bed bugs. We called the local exterminator. They we giving us an estimate of around ,000. Ever since then, I’ve been losing a lot of sleep and I even spent a whole day (I should have been studying for my Algebra test! I ended up getting a 48!) looking up information about bed bugs. Every night or in my case, morning (I usually go to sleep between 2-4:30am) I spray my pillow, mattress, pillowcase, covers, between my mattress and box spring, curtains, and in little holes around my window with 91% alcohol. I usually end up using anywhere from 20-30 oz. of alcohol every morning! The fumes are no joke, but I’ve survived them so far, thank God! Luckily, I haven’t been bit, but I feel like I’m over doing it. Before I spray, I always do a through inspection of everything I listed above and I haven’t seen anything. How hazardous are the alcohol fumes? I heard that bed bugs don’t like borax and I thought about putting some between my mattress and box spring. Do you think that will decrease my need for the excessive amounts of alcohol I’ve been using? Also, I just read that taking vitamin B1-B-Complex could keep them and other bugs at bay…I wonder if this really works! With the exception of calling an exterminator (I REALLY DON’T HAVE THE MONEY), I want to know if you could give me additional ideas on keeping them at bay. Thanks so much for your time and effort in advance! I got the alcohol idea from my cousin. They had bed bugs in their apartment building and they sprayed everthing down with alcohol and they haven’t had any ever since!

OK, I don’t know where they came from but I have bed bugs in my apartment now. I have ended up having to throw away my couch and love seat because I was scared of them and I will be throwing away my bed this weekend.

I have gotten a spray poison from the Feed and Seed store in town and it has been working a little bit. But I am still getting bit occasionally. I moved my desk in front of the big window so that the heat from the sun with kill their butts. I have sprayed all corners and crevices and windows and doorways.

But I need something that will work and get them out of here. I have lived here since November 2009 and just started having this issue this month. I am irritated because I am not dirty nor do I have a ton of clutter.

And no the landlord will not let me call an exterminator because I live in a n apartment an she is afraid of poison going through the vents. So I will be treating it myself.

Any Ideas, please let me hear them.

Okay so my gf just broke the news that her mom found bed bugs in her room. Now i feel COMPLETELY paranoid about going to her house or her coming to mine because she or i may transport these DISGUSTING things. I just now checked my mattress and i know i dont have them! In the building that i live in at the moment has a huge bed bug problem. Now I have bed bugs in my apartment. The exterminator came 5 days ago and sprayed. The following evening I was still getting bites. I read somewhere online about DE. I bought a bag and last night put it in a salt shaker and went crazy pouring it all over the edge of my apartment. All around my bed and under the mattress.. Just the whole outline of the apartment. Around the furniture etc. My nose is dry, i have a headache. My cat is very small and I can tell she doesn’t like it. (She climbed all the way to the top of this closet shelve and i just don’t know how she did it! after pouring this stuff all over.
Is this stuff bad to inhale? Is it just as bad as breathing asbestos? My neighbor says i have to leave it for 10 days and then vacuum it. And how I should just bag everything with BLACK industrial size plastic bags and lay them out in the sun so the bugs can heat up and die…I used whtie plastic bags.. and bought some plastic storage containers to store my clean laundry and she was like it’s not good cuz they probably will crawl in anyways.. I am just going crazy! I just read so many different things I don’t know what to do. and I am worried about my cat. And am not too crazy about the exterminator coming back again in two weeks to spray cuz then we will have to leave again for 6 hours .. and i have no money to take her to the vet to hang out. And i have also read horrible things about pets getting sick because of the bug spray.. HELP PLEASE I AM DESPERATE!

So tomorrow I will get a mask and vacuum it. Should I put more of it down again? did i just used it excessively? There is this whole ordeal (legally) going on in the building already. The cheap ass landlord is just stretching it. I just wanted to do something extra between now and the next time the pest control guy comes back.
Anybody have any other suggestions on how to properly store linens and clothes? Do i have to consider saran wrapping the containers shut?

I moved into an apartment in November and started getting bitten by an unknown insect causing allergic reactions, and reported that to the front office, they have not followed up since they said they were going to send in an exterminator, and the bites have continued unless I set off a fogger every few days. Since then I have found a dead bed bug.
