We recently got an embarrassing bed bug problem…we were experimenting with roach spray to see if it would kill the hatched bugs and it killed them on the spot. does this also kill the eggs?

Tip for people who have bed bugs?

Hi everyone I wanted to let anyone who is dealing with these critters a way to kill them I haven’t had a problem with them for a month. Now its kill on contact so you actually have to see the bug and spray it or the eggs. Do this for about a week I know it is time consuming but it worked for me.
get rubbing alcohol obviously it depends on how big your house is and how much furniture you have on how much you need to buy.
Spray the nests that are probably on the underside of your bed or chair or couch. you’ll need to vacuum your bed and if your bed has a design on it vacuum the design as well go around every crease every crack. Use Vaseline on and wood parts near the floor like the legs. These bus will not cross a Vaseline barrier. Then clean out any clutter you have. Throw your clothes ALL of them in the dryer for 30 minutes, not at one time. Just do a normal load and put it in on high heat. hang them when they come out of the dryer. spray all your furniture where you have seen a bug vacuum it. Vacuum around your base boards, then tape or block off all unused plug ins and light sockets. Bag your bed in a bed bag or if you can’t afford one use plastic wrap. This worked for me. Just try it before you think I am crazy.

ok last year i had bed bugs and i thought i got rid of it with bed bug spray, vacum, and bleaching, but i guess they laid eggs and all that stuff. So i just spray it with the spray again. and im gonna wash all my clothes, bedding, stuffed animals, etc tomorrow. i have a washing machine at home, so will that do the job. i usually just wash and hang it up to dry. and what kind of water should i use. hot or cold??
and should i wash my pillow? i have one of those therapeutic memory foam pillows.
What are these tiny ant-like biting insect in my bed?
Posted by admin on January 21st, 2011

I bought a new mattress about 3 weeks ago and just a few days ago I noticed these tiny ant like (but not ants) bugs with black wings in my bed. I only see them one at a time and they are only on the bed, nowhere else in the house.
They are about a half a centimeter long, very skinny, black, have segments like an ant but the last segment is really long. They also have black wings but I’ve never seen them fly. They’re really fast so I end up just killing them before I can get a picture.
I’ve checked my kids and had my husband check me for any signs of lice, fleas, etc. Nothing. They look nothing at all like fleas, mites, bed bugs or lice.
I live in Texas if that makes any difference. Any idea what these are or how to kill them? I’m chemically sensitive so any advice on debugging a bed naturally?
I’ve already called the mattress store. It’s one of the major chains who claim to be "experts" if you catch my drift. They said it’s too late for them to help. Maybe something laid eggs that are just now hatching?
Does anyone know if its safe to machine wash an anime plush doll without ruining it?

I have a possible bed bug infestation, and my personal items are at risk. I’m especially worried about my Death Note L plush (here’s a link to the plush on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Death-Note-L-Plush-GE-7051/dp/B001A15GWK
I’m not sure if he can survive any type of machine washing or drying, but how else can I kill possible bed bug eggs? Sealing him in a plastic bag seems possible, but I’ve read that bed bugs take forever to die (they’re eggs are hardy too). Any personal experiences or suggestions with washing plush dolls would be helpful.
I’m losing sleep over this. Curse those bugs!

I’m hoping someone who has dealt with bed bugs before can help me.
Recently within the last few weeks I received some bug bites. These occurred immediately after returning from a trip to the east coast (Washington DC). The bites are located only on my feet, ankles, and there are one or two on my calf, and a cluster of three on my upper thigh. No bites on my upper body. At first I thought it was fleas. While we were gone we had a friend come by and feed our cat and he has a small dog. The dog used my couch blanket as a bed so I was thinking that could be it. A friend of mine looked at my bites and said, "You have bed bugs," saying this because he himself had them a few years back and had to throw out his mattress. Immediately I started panicing. My bites are in sort of a linear pattern of three, but they’re spread pretty far apart. My boyfriend who shares the same bed has no bites. But I’ve heard its not uncommon for the bugs to have one host or people not having allergic reactions to their bites. The first thing I did was spray our luggage with bed bug spray and put it in the garage. I haven’t gotten any new bites since the first ones, a few weeks ago.
My boyfriend and I turned our mattress and boxspring upside down and searched for clues but couldn’t find any. I bought vinyl mattress encasements and we’ve sealed up our mattress and boxspring already just in case, our city has a reported high number of bed bug infestations. I’ve been diligently checking the bedding every day and have no other clues (no obvious feces, eggs, or skin) but the other day I did find a blood stain on my pillowcase about the size of a dime. It wasn’t that dark and washed out very easily. I searched the case and pillow but never found a dead bug. I’ve never bled on my pillowcase before, but I have noticed blood in my ear canal within the last week and my boyfriend is prone to nosebleeds from time to time.
So, I’m pretty worried. I’ve already thrown all of my clothing and linens in the dryer on high heat and have been vacuuming like a fool. At first this eased my mind but then I saw that stupid stain. I figured if I saw any more definitive clues (like cast skins or blood stains or an actual bed bug) I would call my landlord. Now that I’ve seen a stain I’m still skeptical of whether or not I have enough information to determine a bed bug problem. Our landlords aren’t the friendliest, we rent from private owners, and their maintenance staff is useless, they don’t know what they’re doing and don’t speak much English. We really don’t have extra money to hire an outside exterminator.
Have you dealt with bed bugs in the past? Would you say I have enough evidence that I should call my landlord or wait for more clues? I have photos of all of my bites, as well as the blood stain. I’ve heard the earlier you catch a problem, the easier they are to get rid of, just not sure if I even have a problem (besides paranoia). Thanks!
Thanks! Yep, I’ve done literally hours of research on the web on bed bugs, so I’ve been searching and keeping a sharp eye out for clues where they like to hide, I even took apart my wooden dresser and sprayed the cracks just in case
I didn’t stay in a hotel, I stayed with my boyfriend’s parents in the basement room (kind of regretting that now) on a sofa bed. I figure if I picked them up during travel it was at the airport. Thanks for the tip on the new clothing, I never would’ve thought to do that and it makes sense. At this rate it seems like within the next ten years everyone will have bed bugs!
How do I trap bed bugs with Vaseline?
Posted by admin on October 10th, 2010
|
I don’t have a bed frame, so my bed doesn’t have any legs. It’s just a box spring and a mattress. Do I coat the Vaseline around my box spring?
I haven’t seen any obvious signs of bed bugs (no blood spots, feces, or eggs so far), but I’ve been getting itchy red spots after waking up in the morning for the past 3 days.
Any tips on how to catch/trap these little suckers would be greatly appreciated.

so a few days ago i had 3 bites on my arm, the first bites i EVER noticed. i saw no signs of bugs. last night me and my mom stripped my bed (cause we’re really OCD) and found 5 baby bed bugs and one adult, which freaked us out, cause i have only been bit the one time. today we threw everything on my bed in the dryer for an hour, vacuum my bed and emptying the vacuum, and are spraying everything with this bed bug spray we bought at some bed bug store. do you think this will be enough to kill the eggs- as we think there must only have been the pregnant mom and then she laid eggs and thats why we found so many babies at one time cause they just hatched?.. idk, what do you think- were freaking out!
Please help me with Bed Bugs!!!?

We live in a apartment with two bedrooms. We’ve been suffering with these bed bugs for a while now but its a low infestation. We cleaned everything and killed them and their eggs. We even put the Results Insect Killer powder with silicone dioxide and pyrethrin everywhere. To test if the powder works we put the bugs in a cup and put the powder, it has been a day put they still haven’t died except they have slowed down and just squiggle around. The bugs are in the living room and the MB and my parent’s room is right in between both of them, but has no sign of any bugs or bites or anything. They’ve totally skipped the room right in between. How is that possible? How do i get rid of them?
We’re also moving soon into a town house soon so how do i prevent them from traveling to the other house with us? We’re thinking of Bell Environmental Services, but should we call them now or in the new house?
PLEASE HELP US SLEEP AGAIN!!!
How do I prevent bed bugs?

I have a friend coming to visit me from NY next month and a few weeks ago they got bed bugs in their apartment. Even though they have been treating properly, thrown away their beds & other items, & had an exterminator come in several times, I have read that it can take up to 4 months for all of the eggs to die.
What are the chances that she could be carrying eggs on her?
Is there anything I can do ahead of time to assure that if she does carry eggs with her they die and do not hatch? A bug bomb ahead of time?
Thanks!
I have bed bugs in my room and am moving soon. Is this a good way to not take them with me? See below.?

Bed bugs in the couch?
Posted by admin on March 25th, 2010

What can you do to kill bedbugs that hide in your couch? Apart from throwing the couch out or calling an exterminator? It’s just this one couch that has them too. I’ve just moved into this place and the only thing that the bugs can get into is this one couch since everything else is leather/wood and I have no bed.
I’ve use a flea and tick spray on them and it’s worked, but it seems like the bugs are coming OUT of the couch. Also, when do these bugs start to reproduce/lay eggs and how fast do they grow up to become that old?

We never had these stupid bugs until we moved here. We had an old broken fire detector we turned in to her to replace, but we found what seemed to look like eggs and dead bugs. We didn’t know what it was, and we still haven’t received a new fire alarm.. She’s not having the exterminator come in until tomorrow and we told her we’ve been researching and we think its bed bugs and she only told us she’d spray once and then proceeded to tell us that they only come from beds and sofas.. she seriously needs to do research. We pay over 0 in rent.. Is there anything we can do? Do we have any rights?
Lol my bad then.. I HAVE been getting bit. No need to be a smartass.. Just wondering what my options are..

I read several medical articles that recommend dry cleaning infested sheets and pillow cases. It kills 100% of the bugs and eggs and at everystage of their development.
Even large pillows can be dry cleaned by good cleaners.
But its a big hassle, because to do a thorough job I also have to send out my rugs and some of my clothes that are infested.
No big deal I guess because they pick up and deliver.
But here is the question… where did they come from?
My pets, my guests or from me?
I never wear clothes more then twice, most are dry cleaned or washed weekly.
Should I send my pets out to be cleaned with special insecticide shampoos? How do I know if they are infested ?
Good stuff.
Thanks.
My pets rarely scratch so I guess its not form them.
Oh, I wouldn’t send to a dry cleaners a infested sheet without sealing it in a plastic bag and labeling it. And once its in the machine everything is dead anyway and protected in a plastic bag before its returned. I wouldn’t infest the employees for my own sake. Besides they know what they are doing. Its a demand common enough that they seem to have protocals for it.
The articles say that washing infested clothes will not kill the infestation if they are in the larval phase. And I never use bleach on my clothes. (really top of the line stuff). And I dry on habgers or low heat. So washing is useless for infestations.
But just in case I may bath my pets. Because if my sheets are infested some are bound to be on them.
My body is not covered with bites. Ouch! Ichy! Gross.
Money is nooooo object!!!
I’ll pay to have stuff cleaned all at once!!!
It doesn’t happen often, but if it does its WAR!!!
Good stuff.
Thanks.

We have a bed bug problem in our apartment!
I’ve only seen two (live) bed bugs, but the gross part is their tiny, white sand-like eggs are all over my bed frame. The eggs are like wedged in-between the wood where I can’t get to them!
How do we get rid of this problem? The only way I can scrape out the eggs is to literally break my bed frame in half! We’re trying to spray things inside the crack; I tried Febreeze, will that kill the eggs?
Please please help us, we’ve never had bed bugs ever before!
I’m totally freaking out about the idea of sleeping on top of a whole community of disgusting little parasites, HELP!
I can’t afford to throw away my bed!
Will Lysol kill them?
Also can’t afford exterminator; omg is this situation worse than fleas??
