I have bed bugs in my apartment this is the first time i ever have this its annoying i cannot afford an exterminator and my landlord thinks its too much to pay for i have talked to her about this issue millions of times in the last month and she refuses to help! just four days ago i started using my own home remedies i got the iron and started ironing all my mattress and carpet! in the room the steam helped a lot i haven’t gotten bit but i’ve been steaming in everyday i threw away clothes bagged up all the shoes sprayed hot shot on them and closed it my clothes i haven’t done because i don’t have enough money to wash every clothing item and what not i threw out some furniture that was inside the room. Today i am doing the living room i took out my center table and the chairs my dinner table and chairs sprayed them also and I’m gonna do the couch and leave it outside as well gonna try to iron the whole carpet in the living room…. there’s another room too but i cant clean that one as much as i would like to cause we rented but its seems like ever since that person moved in we got this issue i try to clean it when that person is not here but its impossible i wish i could just throw everything in that room away! I’m frustrated i can take it anymore i wanna runaway haha but anyways has anyone used any of their own home remedies and how have you gotten rid of those filthy bugs and cheap products you guys recommend or anything please help!

I threw out the infested mattress last week, and I sprayed everything with the bully bed bug spray. I vacuumed so much my carpet looks brand new. I’ve checked furniture and everything. Last nite I was awake and killed about 10 big ones. what more can I do?

When I woke up this morning there was a single bug sitting on my comforter next to me. I have no bites or anything. I have been planning a trip that is happening in a few weeks, so have been researching bed bugs in hotels and know what they look like and how to find them and what not… At first I figured it was a tick, but it did not have the legs like a tick and was flat and brown. I immediately looked up pictures and it is in fact a bed bug. I have a brand new bed that i bought before moving into this apartment about 8 months back and the apartments do not have any other bed bug issues. Also, Immediately after finding the bug, I killed it and flushed it down the toilet, then searched around my bed all over in it and around it, Removed my blankets, sheets, and mattress cover, and threw them into a garbage bags and tied it up. I then grabbed all of my laundry and the bags with my bedding stuff and went to the Laundromat. I put all the pillows in the dryer for 40 min and washed and dried everything on hot. I have vacuumed and sprayed bleach all over everything in my room (carpet, mattress, frame, etc..). I have searched my bed thoroughly in all cracks and what not, and see absolutely no signs of them anywhere (no casings, shells, blood spots, bugs… nothing) I have a completely bright white mattress too, so i figure it should be fairly easy to spot them. I think that the one could have been brought in by my friend who goes out of town every week for work and is constantly staying in hotels. He came over and was in my room the night he got back into town (which was Saturday night), and I found the bug the following Tuesday morning. Do you think I have an infestation?????? should i be worried? Im already scared to sleep in my bed now..,
How does an infestation start, then, if there can never be just ONE?
Isnt it quite possible that the bug I found was just one that was carried over from my friend?

I have major dust in my bedroom. Seems I can dust and then its all back an hour or so later. I have no windows open and the furnace is not on, even if it was there is a brand new filter in there. I’m being sued for a floor cleaner and In the contract it clearly stated I could return it in 3 days.I tried to return the product and they had change there number when I tried to call the sales department.Also I was forced in this contract they said they would clean my carpet free and they half cleaned it.Stayed in my home four hours presenting this cleaner and said it would help my kids with there asthma and guess what it didn’t.Say this cleaner kills dust mites and bed bugs etc…This was a miracle cleaner they say! Any way I called the financing company and ask them do they have a number for them and they gave me a number that was a none working number.I called the finance company back and ask them how can I return this product cause my husband had said he didn’t want it and not just that the sales person said I could sign his name until I get a answer from him and if we decided we didn’t want it we could return it. The finance company told me that they didn’t know much about the company and I need to make sure my payments was on time are they was going to garnish my husband wages.I was like I’m calling here today on my second day to return where do I need to send it and they said not to us we just the finance company and we gave the loan to you.What should I do ?

I’ve read that bed bugs are white or tan/brown/dark red in color..

Anyway I just got back from NYC and heard about bed bugs but didn’t bring any spray because I wasn’t staying at a hotel or anything. I don’t know if I’ve been bitten by a bed bug or not, but anyway, I found this bug crawling on me during the next day, probably from the floor where I was laying. It’s completely black and a tiny little thing that was crawling around my carpet. around as thick as a penny and about twice as long as that.

Anyway, I don’t think bed bugs can be black, but could that be what it is? I’m just probably over-worrying myself cause I didn’t bring a spray with me.
When I say the thickness of a penny ‘m talking about on its side, like the bug is only a couple millimeters long not big like a roach.

On that note it could be a tick or a flew because it’s that size but it’s black not red or brown. I don’t know what ticks or fleas look like.

I have had a company come out a week ago and treat my apartment for bed bugs. I still have everything I own in big black garbage bags, some with "no-pest" strips which I’ll need to transfer to bags without a pest strip, because these strips are so expensive. Since they last up to 4 months I can re-use them. The exterminators are coming out again in a couple of days and doing a more detailed spraying of the apartment, involving lifting the carpet and spraying under etc.
My question is… instead of transfering all of these strips from one treated bag to the next, can I place all my belongings in the middle of a room and bomb/fog my apartment. Has anyone done this???
Also, how effective is "BED BUG PATROL"?? this is a natural product that claims to kill bugs on contact. Please help with any info to effectively kill these bugs with least amount of harmful chemicals as possible, I have kids and pets. Thank you.

I’m pretty sure I have bed-bugs in the carpet of my bedroom. I always spot smallish, black bugs with a reddish tone on my carpet or on piles of clothes on the ground, and i occasionally get small, red bug bites on my arms and feet (might not me from the bugs, but I’m pretty sure they are!) How do I rid my bedroom of these vermin? It’s pretty terrifying.

I RECENTLY FOUND A WORM LIKE BUT ON MY BLANKET I THREW IT OUT AND DIDNT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. THEN A WEEK LATER I FOUND ANOTHER ONE AND WENT SEARCHING FOR WHERE IT COULD HAVE BEEN COMING FROM. THEY ARE WHITE WITH BLACK AT THE HEAD AND TAIL NO OTHER COLOR. THEY ARE VERY SLOW MOVING. IN ONE CORNER OF THE BED I ALSO FOUND WHAT LOOKED LIKE CASINGS FROM WHICH THEY SHED. THERE WAS ABOUT AS MANY CASINGS AS I FOUND BUGS. THE CASING WERE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A HALF GRAIN OF RICE AND YELLOWISH IN COLOR. I KILLED ALL THAT I FOUND. WHICH WHEN I KILLED THEM ALL THEY DID WAS FLATTEN. I LIVE IN NJ. MIGHT U KNOW WHAT THESE BUGS ARE AND HOW I CAN GET FID OF THEM? I THINK HAVE RULED OUT MANY OF THE USUAL SUBJECTS. i found bed bugs on my mattress and bed frame last night, so today i went out and bought a couple cans of otc lice/bed bug spray and sprayed all over the carpet around my bed, mattress, frame, head board, and walls with the spray. lets say i soaked everything, and i have a bunk bed so i sprayed everything up there too. but i didn’t see any signs of bugs up there, i don’t think they woudl be on top though cause no one has slept up there in years.
i even threw away my pillows that i sleep on every night.

i am not, at least not planning on gettin rid of the mattress. don’t know if they’re gone yet, but does this sound good enough to you?

i woke up with some bites on my leg thought it was bed bugs.. searched my entire room from the bed to the floor to the wall hangings cannot find a single bug? anyone know whats going on?

lots of bed bugs. ok i am constantly being bitten by bugs in my apartment. I see them crawling on my bed and at first i thought they were bed bugs. I got mad because my mattress was bought new and is only 2 years old and i thought i would have to throw it away. Then someone told me they could possible be fleas from the other residents who have pets. I have ALOT of residents with pets. They told me you rarely ever see bed bugs you just get bites and see evident like bed bug poop on your bed. Yes, i have seen dark marks on the outside of my mattress but these things come out in bright daylight and they don’t really take the courtesy to hide. They just come and get me! I have seen them in the corners of my room dead cuz i sprayed a little bug spray the other night. i have even seen a few in the living room coming to get me! I was on the couch and yes two of them were under me , i turned on the light and saw them , turned my head for two secs to get some thing to kill em’ and they were gone. they mostly concentrate in the room either on the carpet or bed ( mostly bed). When i first noticed them i got bites all over my body while in bed. I broke out in hives and a first i thought i had some terrible disease and consulted a nurse who also thought they were hives. my whole arms were covered in bruise like bites ( large) and very very itchy. All my legs and just about everywhere. I have seen the bugs that did this too me and they are brown, flat, and about 1/4 of an inch in thickness. I can’t even sleep peacefully anywhere in the apartment wit these blood thirsty monsters around. What are they, and when will the leave my bedroom so i can enjoy my new bed???? How can i KILL these suckers??

I’ve been getting clogged sinuses recently and I’m pretty sure it from the dust mites in my room.

I’ve bought an air filter and covered all my bedding with dust mites covers and that’s helped a lot, but I was wondering if I should deal with my carpet as well?

My room is small, about 10′x12′, and the carpet is thin and only about 5 years old.

I was wondering if it was possible to cover the carpet with linoleum as opposed to taking everything out of my room, ripping up the carpet, then laying the linoleum.

We have called a professional service and 1st time they sprayed something, we actually noticed an increase in these bugs!
Then, they changed the carpets. Yet, bugs remain. Seems like they were reduced (maybe)!

In the kitchen, we noticed a lots of roaches (varying sizes) that show up as we shut off the light during night and there are bed bugs that show up in the beds during late nights!

They told us to spray Boric powder all over and vacuum after leaving it for few hours. We have not yet done it!

What are other "effective" ways to tackle this situation?

We recently moved into this apartment I bought a brand spanking new bed that cost me well over 500 dollars and factory sealed, about a week later i get this strange itchy rash all over, and they still to this day 8 mos later appear more and more every night! we have told the manager several times about the issue and she has yet to do anything about it, I heard since i am having such severe reactions and since there are so many here that she should be responsible to kill the bugs, pull up the carpet and linoleum get them out of here and let us break the lease without it going against us. Hi, Recently I have discovered myself getting biten by some kind of insect while I was sleeping since about the beginning of this year. The biten place became red, and it itchs and kind of hurts like a flea bite, however, there is no animals in my house. I accuse it was bed bugs because I mostly discovered the itchy-ness after I woke up.
I caught a flea ONCE in my dining room, which was the ONLY time that my other family member got biten. Other than that, none of my other family members got biten so I accuse it is in my room, so I don’t know if that was related to this.
I tried to change my bed sheet, and bug-sprayed my whole room. The biting disappeared for a month or two and it begin all again. It already re-happen 3 times and now I am afraid to sleep in my room.
What bug could be biting me, and how in the world am I going to kill these darn bugs for good?
Oh and, all the rooms in my house have carpet installed except the dining room and the kitchen
if it is laundry detergent, wouldn’t I got it all over my body? These itchy-pains are mainly on my legs and ankle. there was only one time that went on my body.
Plus, what would it look like if it was the laundry detergent?
Actually now that I think about it, I am NOT SURE if it is bug bites or not. I have NEVER caught any blood-sucking bugs in my room.

We recently found out that we have bed bugs, we thought they were ticks from the woods in our backyard. Anyway we bagged all material items washed what is needed for now, broke all bedrooms down, sprayed all hard surfaces(table joints, and chairs, etc.), everyday we spray baseboards, matresses, and carpet with 91% isopropyl alcohol. When I say spray, we are useing a continuous sprayer which puts out a continuous heavy stream. So we are actually saturating everything in alcohol. we have set up camp in our living room( its just nasty to sleep w/them) I need to know are we affecting them at all or just wasting time and money. By the way we cannot afford for the exterminator to do it, he said it was going to start at 0. So for you pros out there are we getting the job done?

I have bed bugs in my apartment, I have done my research and know the difference between bed bugs and dust mites. I have webmd’ the bites on the arm and they are also a match for bed bugs. My plan is to vacuum out all my carpet and closet and dust everything, then to use the Bayer advanced indoor insect spray. then to vacuum my mattress and clean it dry so it doesn’t get mold with 20 mule team borax. then bagging up the mattress and box spring with tight hypo-allergenic covers, then buy new sheets,pillowcases, and pillows, any ideas to make this better? I’m a college student living in my apartment so needless to say I’m not loaded with money so calling the exterminator or replacing the mattress are too pricey for me right now.
