Did the army ever use bed bugs to detect enemies?
Posted by admin on April 10th, 2010

Ok so I read in a book that at one point the army used a special kind of bed bug that made a barking sound when it smelled human flesh to detect enemies…is this true? The book said the bugs were put into capsules with radio transmitters and if the people listening heard a barking sound, they attacked.
How do you get rid of bed bugs?

My house is not dirty. I am a neat person, and this is why I was so in shock when I kept seeing tiny brown mite looking bugs crawling on my sheets. I have tried borax powder on the mattress and pest control spray around the room. Nothing seems to work, and I have had to stay in a hotel for the past two nights, which is getting expensive. I am so scared of bugs, and I don’t know what to do…

I'm getting small bites in my sleep. Checked for bed bugs and can find no sign of them. What else can it be?

No sign of beds bugs, their larva, or what they may leave behind. Bites are very small red bumps, they look like an allergic reaction. Bites itch after scratching and even after scabbing over.
Bed bugs in the couch?

What can you do to kill bedbugs that hide in your couch? Apart from throwing the couch out or calling an exterminator? It’s just this one couch that has them too. I’ve just moved into this place and the only thing that the bugs can get into is this one couch since everything else is leather/wood and I have no bed.
I’ve use a flea and tick spray on them and it’s worked, but it seems like the bugs are coming OUT of the couch. Also, when do these bugs start to reproduce/lay eggs and how fast do they grow up to become that old?

Bed bugs, dust mites, lice oh my !?

I read several medical articles that recommend dry cleaning infested sheets and pillow cases. It kills 100% of the bugs and eggs and at everystage of their development.
Even large pillows can be dry cleaned by good cleaners.
But its a big hassle, because to do a thorough job I also have to send out my rugs and some of my clothes that are infested.
No big deal I guess because they pick up and deliver.
But here is the question… where did they come from?
My pets, my guests or from me?
I never wear clothes more then twice, most are dry cleaned or washed weekly.
Should I send my pets out to be cleaned with special insecticide shampoos? How do I know if they are infested ?
Good stuff.
Thanks.
My pets rarely scratch so I guess its not form them.
Oh, I wouldn’t send to a dry cleaners a infested sheet without sealing it in a plastic bag and labeling it. And once its in the machine everything is dead anyway and protected in a plastic bag before its returned. I wouldn’t infest the employees for my own sake. Besides they know what they are doing. Its a demand common enough that they seem to have protocals for it.
The articles say that washing infested clothes will not kill the infestation if they are in the larval phase. And I never use bleach on my clothes. (really top of the line stuff). And I dry on habgers or low heat. So washing is useless for infestations.
But just in case I may bath my pets. Because if my sheets are infested some are bound to be on them.
My body is not covered with bites. Ouch! Ichy! Gross.
Money is nooooo object!!!
I’ll pay to have stuff cleaned all at once!!!
It doesn’t happen often, but if it does its WAR!!!
Good stuff.
Thanks.

hi, everybody. I have a question about bed bug.?

my friend and her son have many bite mark from bed bug.
she already try to clean everything in her room, but the bugs still there. she sprayed everything with vinegar and the special liquid spray for bug. she so frustrated. and this problem already 1 week. I feel so bad for her.
Can somebody tell me what my friend has to do ? and what is the best lotion that she can use for the bite ? thank you so much for the answer.
how to kill bed red bugs permanently ? they are biting me all night, I used a spray HOT Shot but….?
Posted by admin on March 2nd, 2010
|
I used the HOT SHOT Bedbug and Flea spray but a person told me they will wake up again after seven days and then start biting me and that I have to freeze them and change all the bed which would be the best solution, please advice best solution to get rid of bugs
So, the Bedbugs can only be Controlled and not Fully Killed ?, if I have to do a Full Cleaning, of the entire apartment, it may not be possible, because this is a big house with about 8 rooms, the others who live in other rooms don’t have any problems…its just my room, esp my bed….Is there a way the pesticide company will fully kill them ?
I am planing on buying a new matress for myself, there is a big dent in the mattress through which bugs of a bigger size go in and out I guess, I sprayed inside the vent as well….however the bed is an old rut, I will definitely buy a new one…..now I found out from the guy living downstairs that he has this problem too ! now they pass through the walls and can live forever this way….I have called the Pest Control center Ehrlich and they said they can’t tell me the cost now, they will do a free inspection tomorrow and let us know what can be done…..Ideal thing am assuming would be to clean the Entire house through them….and then buy new Matress, get rid of all the furniture that guy has put in this room, cos they might be hidden anywhere….but that owner has to agree to pay to the Pesticide Company for Cleaning and Servicing… ![]()

How to rid earwig bugs from our lambs ear plants.?
Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010
|
We have 6 lambs ear plants in our front yard flower bed. The earwig bugs have seem to have taken a liking to them. What would kill these bugs and keep them off of our plants? Someone told me that Ivory soap diluted with 50% water would work if I didn’t want to use harsh chemicals. Has anyone tried this method? If not, what would a good solution be. We would rather not use harsh chemicals because of the grand children, but will if we have to. What Home Depot or Lowe’s chemicals work best for these bugs? Our plants are looking horrible. Thanks in advance.

All this news about dust mites is making my skin crawl. I’m entirely okay with all the other bugs that live on me–though I still cringe when reminded of them–but dust mites have too many negative aspects for me. So if someone could tell me, it would be MUCH appreciated!!
Why is it so hard to kill bed bugs?

Why can’t they be killed with a can of Raid/bug spray, like other bugs. What are these suckers made of that they require so much work to get rid of??
What do you do if you suspect bed bugs?
Posted by admin on December 18th, 2009

Have been sleeping on a mattress that was in storage for a few years and now I am all itchy when I attempt to sleep on it. I don’t have any outward bites nor obvious blotchiness in an area. I am not sure what to suspect is causing the irritation, but I feel my skin is creepy crawly, even under my PJs. Strange, huh?
So is there some product I can use to stop bugs cold? Or must I resort to buying a new bed?

dust MITES in your bed?
Posted by admin on November 18th, 2009

Ok, I just read a article about dust mites and now I’m all disgusted and want to wash all my pillow cases and bedspreads. I know they can’t physcially harm you except allergy wise but it still sounds so gross, millions of bugs crawling all over you while your sleeping? Opinions?
Also I’m told that heat from the dryer can kill millions of them therefore reducing the population in your bed. What could you do about the mattress? Go over it with a iron?

All the mites in your food and so on. I’m starting to freak myself out thinking of it. I better make sure to take my make up off before I go to be because there are bugs in that also!
There's a cockroach in my room and I have a massive phobia of insects. What do I do!?
Posted by admin on September 27th, 2009

Ever since a few years ago, I have had a huge phobia of bugs. Every type of bug you can think of, I’m scared of. I don’t know how or why it started, but it’s a pain in the butt.
Normally it hasn’t been much of a problem. If there’s a fly, wasp, or spider in the room I’ll still kill it. But…cockroaches. I can’t kill cockroaches. I am petrified of them. I know I’m way bigger of them and they can’t possibly harm me, but that doesn’t help.
I was in my bed when I noticed an odd shadow on my curtain (there’s a street light outside, so I can see a lot). I turned on the light and discovered that it was a cockroach. The window is right above my bed, so naturally I flew out of that room. I got the bug swatter (no spray; we’ve never had problems with bugs before – especially cockroaches) and went back to my room. I tried to face it, I really did, but every time I got near the thing fluttered its wings and started to fly. The thought of it flying at my face…I ran away and cried. I still am.
It’s been about an hour now, and I really need to get to bed. But the thought of going back there terrifies me. What should I do? The only solution I can think of is sleeping on the couch, but I won’t be able to go to sleep knowing that thing is in the house.
Matt: I thought of doing that, but my Dad has to wake up in two hours and my brother has to wake up in three. My Mom is just starting work on Friday, too, so…I guess I’ll just have to wait until my Dad gets up.
stripe: I’ve never thought of that before. That’s a really good idea!

There are bed bugs all over my apartment?

We recently moved into this apartment I bought a brand spanking new bed that cost me well over 500 dollars and factory sealed, about a week later i get this strange itchy rash all over, and they still to this day 8 mos later appear more and more every night! we have told the manager several times about the issue and she has yet to do anything about it, I heard since i am having such severe reactions and since there are so many here that she should be responsible to kill the bugs, pull up the carpet and linoleum get them out of here and let us break the lease without it going against us. Is this true because something needs to be done i cant live like this much longer!

Bed bugs and Buddhism??

I have been following a buddhist philosophy for a few years now, and I do not kill bugs that I find in my apartment, I just put them in a jar and let them go outside. Now there is a bed bug epedimic in my area and I am pretty sure my apartments have them, and it looks like the other tenants and my landlord are not wanting to do much about it. The only way out of this with out spraying pesticides would be to get rid of EVERYTHING I own and move. I am a student and am quite poor so this is not an easy thing for me to do. I have heard that since I live in an apartment they can transfer HIV from one person to another and other deseases. Just thought I would see how other buddhists would deal with this situatuion.
