Since about a week or so ago, I’ve gotten bug bites all over my body. Yesterday, my father woke up with bed bugs ALL OVER THE COUCH. We’ve stripped every bed and couch in this house of its bedding, and have yet to find any bed bugs anywhere except for on the couch. We’ve searched and searched again, and hope not to find any more.

We’ve scrubed and sprayed down the couch with some bug spray that specializes in killing bed bugs, and an exterminator is stopping by tomorrow morning to spray the entire first floor… But how can I do my best to gaurantee that the bugs don’t spread? They don’t seem to be anywhere but on and around the couch, but I really just want to be sure. They’re disgusting little things, and it doesn’t help the matter that I’m deathly afraid of even the most harmless bugs.

So, are there any steps I could take?

A friend of mine told me that he saw on "Animal Planet" that you have to pump hot air over 150 degrees into your house to get rid of bed bugs. Is there some other way to get rid of chiggers and bed bugs who somehow got into your house?

I just noticed one bug in my bed i ran out and bought all these kinds of bed bug sprays and sprayed my mattress. When i did i noticed little black stains that smeared when i touched them. Is that bed bugs? If so, can i beat them on my own? What can i do? How long will it take to get rid of them? Please help. I dont have alot of money to get an exterminator.

I have what looks like beg bug or flea bite all over my body and up leg an arms..I first thought it might bed bugs after about a week i went an got a bunch of different sprays and powder to kill bed bugs/ other insects..Its been 5 days and i still wake up in the middle of the night feeling like somethin very small is crawling on me but when i look (and I’ve checked everywhere!!) no sign of bed bugs or blood anywhere..What insect could it be that is too small to see?

I talked with a professional exterminator and they said the problem will continue until they fumagate each building. I’m sick of fighting the problem. Someone please help. It’s also a Section 8 and Hud Complex. They just do an apartment if they find out they have bed bugs. The exterminatior said they will keep coming back until the buildings are done in completion of one building at a time. I’ve went out and bought bed bug spray myself. I can’t afford to live this way. It’s very unhealthy and unsanitary.

I have bed bugs in my apartment this is the first time i ever have this its annoying i cannot afford an exterminator and my landlord thinks its too much to pay for i have talked to her about this issue millions of times in the last month and she refuses to help! just four days ago i started using my own home remedies i got the iron and started ironing all my mattress and carpet! in the room the steam helped a lot i haven’t gotten bit but i’ve been steaming in everyday i threw away clothes bagged up all the shoes sprayed hot shot on them and closed it my clothes i haven’t done because i don’t have enough money to wash every clothing item and what not i threw out some furniture that was inside the room. Today i am doing the living room i took out my center table and the chairs my dinner table and chairs sprayed them also and I’m gonna do the couch and leave it outside as well gonna try to iron the whole carpet in the living room…. there’s another room too but i cant clean that one as much as i would like to cause we rented but its seems like ever since that person moved in we got this issue i try to clean it when that person is not here but its impossible i wish i could just throw everything in that room away! I’m frustrated i can take it anymore i wanna runaway haha but anyways has anyone used any of their own home remedies and how have you gotten rid of those filthy bugs and cheap products you guys recommend or anything please help!

OK, I have a bit of a bug phobia, and I have no idea how this could have happened, but I did buy new bedding about 4 months ago, and last Sunday I found 3 bugs that looked like bed bugs under my mattress!!!! Each one was like half the size of a bead, brown and flat. Of course, every piece of bedding went to wash in hot water, double dose of detergent, dryer for 90 minutes each batch, several day project.

Because of my phobia, I use Flea Busters’ Boric acid powder for maintenance cause it is effective in dehydrating bugs and it is safe and I have seen it kill spiders and roaches too. Pest control people say that bed bugs are a special breed and need special fumigating at the tune of 0!!

Does anyone know if Flea Busters Powder will kill a bed bug? I also read diotamecous earth will also kill bed bugs?

I also found a product called Bed Bug Powder, but I cannot find the product ingredient details to compare with Flea Busters to see if they are the same thing.

I read bed bugs have become a huge problem in the U.S., like in hotels…..that is why I have not traveled unless I can stay with family….the only thing I did different was buy a new mattress cover about 4 months ago and that is where I found the bug. It was packaged, but what if it was a return!!!

Since my bed is 8 years old, I am throwing it away, but I don’t know how long to wait before buying a new bed to ensure these things are gone before such an expense…. help!!!!

I live in what is called " a track house" where a row of apts are conected. I’ve been having a problem with bed bugs. I keep spraying for them but they keep coming back. If other people are having this problem where I live, I knowth not. Is my landlord responsible for pest?

While laying in bed last night I kept itching my shoulder. I have 8 tiny bites. A cluster of 4 1 stands alone and a row of 3. I’ve never had bed bugs so I really do t know what they look like. Okay, we have been living in a multiple apartment complex and have had to have the landlord spray for bed bugs 3 times and I’m still being bitten. Two days ago was the 3rd time within an 8-month period. We caught a live specimen the last 2 times. I cannot find them, but they are eating me up. I’m on medication because of the pain and allergic reaction I have to them. My boyfriend and I are both disabled, and around 60ish and will be moving to Florida in October for good and have been saving a little money to enable us to do this. Moving between now and then doesn’t make sense when we have just a few more months to go. When we called him, he was irate and right down nasty, I was not moved one bit because we pay our rent on time and to the penny, never ever been late not once. However, he did come to spray the next day, but I’m still being bitten even after 2 days. I want to call professional exterminators and pay for it myself and take it off the rent. I don’t want to cause us to get put out when we’re so close to just leaving the state altogether. Can I do that and how would I go about it? Will someone help me please!

I just found out I have bed bugs. I’m not sure how far they’ve spread in my home, I’ve only seen them in one room. I’ve been searching online for ways to kill the living nightmares, and came across diatomaceous earth. I bought some yesterday and after vaccuming the floor, put it everywhere on the floor, and even the bed. But I’ve also read that bed bugs are almost impossible to kill without proffesional help, which I can’t afford. Anyone know of anything else that will help (in case the diatomaceous earth doesn’t)?

A family member has somehow gotten a dose of bed bugs. He tried to get rid of them by himself. it seems impossible!!He has a family, and cannot afford to pay over ,000.00 to rid them. Lately I have been finding black bugs in my bed. They are little but I only find like one or two on my blanket. I took off my sheets today and washed them. I looked in all the creases and anywhere they could hid in my matress and I can’t find any bugs. What do I do to get rid of them? and are they bed bugs?

The bed bugs and their biting (and my itching) are waking me up every so many hours at night. I dred going to sleep and I can’t stay sleep for very long. I know this an epidemic right now, but does anyone know how i can kill them or at least reduce them, or stop them from biting me? The (bed bug) spray seems to only be a temporary fix. P.S. I can’t afford professional exterminators.

There are these small bugs showing up in my bed room, and I can’t figure out what’s causing it. It just started happening as the temperature started to go up again. What should I do? They aren’t bed bugs, and they aren’t roaches or ants, or the centipedes that are common around here. I’m not even sure what they are. They’re harmless and easy to kill, but a pest is a pest and you can’t have guests with bugs crawling up your walls and under your bed — which is where I tend to find the majority of them. I moved to the new furnished apartment at the end of January. The first night there, I saw a bed bug. It looked exactly like one on the pictures. What strange about it, is that it was around 11 pm and all the lights were turned on when the beg came out. I freaked out and called my landlord immediately. The next day the exterminator came and inspected the mattress. He didnt find any signs of bed bugs, but sprayed the whole apartment anyway. Since then, I have never had any bites ( I didnt even have them the first night) and never seen any blood on the sheets or any other signs. My bf stayed over couple of times, but didnt have any bites either.
Its april now and I was sure that they magically disappeared until my friend told me today that some ppl might get bitten for months and never have any visible bites. She also told me that poison never kills them and if I saw one in January, I might still have them. Help!!!! Im freaking out!!!
Is it possible I have them and me and my bf dont get any reaction? Did I have them in the first place? Is it possible that there was only one bed bug living in the apartment and when I killed it, there were none left?

We’ve had bed bugs for a little over two months and only identified them last month.
We decided to move out of the apartment and take precautions -
washing everything in hot water, drying them, freezing things.
However, we still have yet to bring over things like stuffed animals.
