What are the name of very effective bed bug control products? Any effective pesticides? Pls help!!!?

Posted by admin on September 22nd, 2011

Please give me effective tips on how to get rid of them. My landlord is being cheap and will try again some bed bug spray.. But she did this before and I was still having bites. I told her we can try again, with her spray, but if it persists I am asking her to contact professional. is there anyone there who has been able to get rid of their bed bug issues effectively? Please some tips, especially names of effective control products to use.

Moving is expensive and requires a lot of effort. And my bed, I bought it only about 6 months ago. It was expensive, but I figured it was something I could use for a long time. Even if I move if my bed has some hanger ons the problem would just follow me. I am pretty clean, so its not a cleanliness issue. I did notice gaps in the wood trim.. its an older apt building. I found out there was an old bed bug issue in this building. Land lady said she only had the infected unit sprayed by professional.

Please help! I am having multiple bites per day :( Any good and effective products for this issue?

I've lived in this Apt. Complex for 11 years and never had a roach or bed bug problem until this year.?

Posted by admin on August 24th, 2011

I talked with a professional exterminator and they said the problem will continue until they fumagate each building. I’m sick of fighting the problem. Someone please help. It’s also a Section 8 and Hud Complex. They just do an apartment if they find out they have bed bugs. The exterminatior said they will keep coming back until the buildings are done in completion of one building at a time. I’ve went out and bought bed bug spray myself. I can’t afford to live this way. It’s very unhealthy and unsanitary.

Can anyone help me with these bastard bed bugs?

Posted by admin on June 12th, 2011

The bed bugs and their biting (and my itching) are waking me up every so many hours at night. I dred going to sleep and I can’t stay sleep for very long. I know this an epidemic right now, but does anyone know how i can kill them or at least reduce them, or stop them from biting me? The (bed bug) spray seems to only be a temporary fix. P.S. I can’t afford professional exterminators.
Thank you everyone for your input. Very helpful

I have bed bugs in my home..need help what to do!?

Posted by admin on March 15th, 2011

Hi! I recently found my daughters bed infested with bed bugs..so I threw her mattress out and dresser. I have been thinking we might have had them because I’ve been getting bit for about a month now. I searched my bed and found no evidence..except one day I was laying on the bed and seen a bed bug crawling right towards me! I don’t know what to do.. I called Orkin out earlier and he didnt see any in my room, but did find a dead one in my daughters room. I have a 4 bedroom mobile home and it would be 200.00 a room or 900 for the heat treatment. What should I do??? Should i try and treat it myself? I’ve been vaccuming constantly and have hardwood floors. Ive sprayed a bed bug spray but still getting bites at night. No one else is but me, but my son has had a few bites on him. Shoud I just pay for mine and my daughters room to get treated or the heat? please help..my friend seems to think im just crazy…but im getting bites all over!
Yeah, i’ve read alot that foggers do not work, it only makes it worse. I just got a call from a local pest control that would charge 250 to do the house and i would have to sign a 5 month contract for them to come back and spray for 40.00 a month. Should i go with Orkin(which is an older company) or the local company thats cheaper? Im just so tired of all this…I feel like im being eaten out of my home..and who has money for all this crap? Im just lucky I guess because I have money in savings, but definetly wasnt looking to spend it on this.

Bed Bugs? Should I call for professional help?

Posted by admin on October 21st, 2010

I’m hoping someone who has dealt with bed bugs before can help me.

Recently within the last few weeks I received some bug bites. These occurred immediately after returning from a trip to the east coast (Washington DC). The bites are located only on my feet, ankles, and there are one or two on my calf, and a cluster of three on my upper thigh. No bites on my upper body. At first I thought it was fleas. While we were gone we had a friend come by and feed our cat and he has a small dog. The dog used my couch blanket as a bed so I was thinking that could be it. A friend of mine looked at my bites and said, "You have bed bugs," saying this because he himself had them a few years back and had to throw out his mattress. Immediately I started panicing. My bites are in sort of a linear pattern of three, but they’re spread pretty far apart. My boyfriend who shares the same bed has no bites. But I’ve heard its not uncommon for the bugs to have one host or people not having allergic reactions to their bites. The first thing I did was spray our luggage with bed bug spray and put it in the garage. I haven’t gotten any new bites since the first ones, a few weeks ago.

My boyfriend and I turned our mattress and boxspring upside down and searched for clues but couldn’t find any. I bought vinyl mattress encasements and we’ve sealed up our mattress and boxspring already just in case, our city has a reported high number of bed bug infestations. I’ve been diligently checking the bedding every day and have no other clues (no obvious feces, eggs, or skin) but the other day I did find a blood stain on my pillowcase about the size of a dime. It wasn’t that dark and washed out very easily. I searched the case and pillow but never found a dead bug. I’ve never bled on my pillowcase before, but I have noticed blood in my ear canal within the last week and my boyfriend is prone to nosebleeds from time to time.

So, I’m pretty worried. I’ve already thrown all of my clothing and linens in the dryer on high heat and have been vacuuming like a fool. At first this eased my mind but then I saw that stupid stain. I figured if I saw any more definitive clues (like cast skins or blood stains or an actual bed bug) I would call my landlord. Now that I’ve seen a stain I’m still skeptical of whether or not I have enough information to determine a bed bug problem. Our landlords aren’t the friendliest, we rent from private owners, and their maintenance staff is useless, they don’t know what they’re doing and don’t speak much English. We really don’t have extra money to hire an outside exterminator.

Have you dealt with bed bugs in the past? Would you say I have enough evidence that I should call my landlord or wait for more clues? I have photos of all of my bites, as well as the blood stain. I’ve heard the earlier you catch a problem, the easier they are to get rid of, just not sure if I even have a problem (besides paranoia). Thanks!
Thanks! Yep, I’ve done literally hours of research on the web on bed bugs, so I’ve been searching and keeping a sharp eye out for clues where they like to hide, I even took apart my wooden dresser and sprayed the cracks just in case :) I didn’t stay in a hotel, I stayed with my boyfriend’s parents in the basement room (kind of regretting that now) on a sofa bed. I figure if I picked them up during travel it was at the airport. Thanks for the tip on the new clothing, I never would’ve thought to do that and it makes sense. At this rate it seems like within the next ten years everyone will have bed bugs!

I am worried about bed bugs after dog sitting for a friend. I slept there and woke up with bites the 2nd day.?

Posted by admin on August 19th, 2010

About a week and half ago I was dog sitting for a friend, on the 2nd day I found a can of bed bug spray. The next morning I woke up with 2 bites. I went home that day. That was a Sunday. By Wednesday I had 3 differnt spots with 3 bites. That night I doused my bed and box springs with alcohol. I found 1 dead bed bug. The next day I bought a mattress cover. I repsrayed everything again including the floor and then covered box springs and mattress sealing any seams with duct tape. I have since then been spraying everything everyday with alcohol including covered bed. The extermintor told me I was probably all set because I sprayed everything and covered bed almost immediatly. I inspected my bed with the help of my roommate and we did not find any eveidence of bed bugs..just the one dead one after I had sprayed. Should I trust him?

Bed bugs, what can I do?

Posted by admin on June 30th, 2010

So I had my old mattress thrown out because of beg bugs, along with my white vinyl covered wood frame because of bed bugs. I heard recently there has been a huge outbreak of them. Once I threw out my stuff vacuumed and took everything out of the room. Now about a month later I notice a bed bug. I don’t see anymore I just saw one. Before my brand new mattress gets infested anyone got any tips of what I can do? I am extremely angry because I thought I got rid of them and then spent about six hundred dollars on a new mattress. Should I spray my mattress and entire room down with some kind of bed bug spray or what? Thanks to everyone that can help
If they feed on dead skin, why did I have bites all on my arms?

How bed bug infested do you think i am?

Posted by admin on May 27th, 2010

so a few days ago i had 3 bites on my arm, the first bites i EVER noticed. i saw no signs of bugs. last night me and my mom stripped my bed (cause we’re really OCD) and found 5 baby bed bugs and one adult, which freaked us out, cause i have only been bit the one time. today we threw everything on my bed in the dryer for an hour, vacuum my bed and emptying the vacuum, and are spraying everything with this bed bug spray we bought at some bed bug store. do you think this will be enough to kill the eggs- as we think there must only have been the pregnant mom and then she laid eggs and thats why we found so many babies at one time cause they just hatched?.. idk, what do you think- were freaking out!

The other night i found a single bed bug crawling on the floor, am i infested?

Posted by admin on April 27th, 2010

My boyfriend was getting changed and when i looked down i saw a small beetle looking bug, it was dim so i squished it and we went to bed. In the morning we looked at the bug, and it was a bed bug. The day before that, i noticed 3 red bumps on my arm. They look a lot like bed bug bites. I have since cleaned out my room, vacuumed every crack and crevasse, and i have inspected everywhere i could think. There is no evidence of bed bugs on my mattress (ie fecal matter, shedded skin, other bed bugs, blood etc) or anywhere else. My mom is going out to buy some bed bug spray for my mattress today. My boyfriend has been staying in shelters until he is able to move in to his apartment. Is it possible it could have been only one bed bug that was transferred from the shelter by his clothes to my room? Or is it likely that in the time he spent in my room had infested it, or other parts of my house like the living room?

should this be good enough to get rid of this infestation?

Posted by admin on April 17th, 2010

i found bed bugs on my mattress and bed frame last night, so today i went out and bought a couple cans of otc lice/bed bug spray and sprayed all over the carpet around my bed, mattress, frame, head board, and walls with the spray. lets say i soaked everything, and i have a bunk bed so i sprayed everything up there too. but i didn’t see any signs of bugs up there, i don’t think they woudl be on top though cause no one has slept up there in years.
i even threw away my pillows that i sleep on every night.

i am not, at least not planning on gettin rid of the mattress. don’t know if they’re gone yet, but does this sound good enough to you?

and yes i washed the sheets in hot water.

High-rise building condominium rules about bed bugs extermination?

Posted by admin on April 2nd, 2010

Couple weeks ago I called to our condo Association and asked if they could help with bed bugs that I had just discovered in our bed. They offered the professional exterminators who came same day and found a bug or two in the bed. When I asked the Association who would pay for their work they said that the owners are responsible. I found out that I it would cost several hundred dollars if not thousands, and we cannot afford this expense. So we bought the bed-bug spray in the Ace Hardware store and worked all day with it. Bought the mattress and box spring protectors, disinfected everything around the bed. And canceled the extermination service. Now our condo association insists that we use the exterminators’ service at our own account and if not, they will make us pay for the extermination at our neighbors’ unit (who recently moved in and supposedly brought those bugs to us, not the other way around). I regret now that I contacted the association because now we have to deal with them. I figured that to pay their fine would be less expensive than the extermination service… Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My neighbor has bed bugs – do I???

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2010

Last week my next door neighbor stopped me in the hallway to inform me that the 5th floor had a few reports of bed bugs (we live on the 6th floor). Ironically enough, 2 days later I had 2 bites on my legs and my boyfriend had a few on his stomach. I flipped out and went to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought vinyl mattress covers and white sheets and sprayed the hell out of my apartment with bed bug spray. We also cleaned the place from top to bottom. We found NOT ONE BED BUG on our mattress or box spring. Since having the white sheets we also haven’t had any fecal or blood traces. We also had our super bring in a PCO to make sure we were clear; he claimed me were, but we had a few beetles so he told us to use a fogger to get rid of those and suggested maybe moqsuitos were biting us.

Fast forward 2 days and my neighbor tells me that she found a few bed bugs on her mattress. Does this mean that perhaps they’re in the wall and that’s why I haven’t found them on our bed or frame???

Commercial Bed Bug Spray safety?

Posted by admin on January 22nd, 2010

Even tho it is required by law, my landlord refuses to hire a professional to exterminate bed bugs. The company claims they have sent their maintenance crew to train for bed bug removal. They also claim Orkin has provided them with commercial bed bug spray that they are using in our apartments. Normally, the maintenance comes in and sprays around for 2 minutes then leaves. Since my nieghbor and I have recently complained to them about their negligence they decided to soak everything in my apartment today with this spray. They stayed in my apartment for exactly 30 minutes today spraying everything. They have given the tenants memos that state – "The 4 products used are commercial grade, but they are non toxic to humans and animals." However, when the maintenance comes to spray they always wear gloves and face masks. When they were spraying I couldnt help but cough as I could feel it in the back of my throat. My daughter also started coughing. When the guys left I could hear them coughing in the hallway. It has been about 4 hours and my apartment still smells horrible and I now have a huge headache and feel lightheaded.
I just emailed them for the MSDS (material safety data sheet). I have a feeling they will fail to provide it. Does anyone have any idea what it is they could be spraying and if it is possible to spray too much even tho its "non toxic?" I am fed up with these people.

Bed bug help…?

Posted by admin on September 11th, 2009

Is there any OFFICIAL way to get rid of these bugs? Besides just moving my family outside in a cardboard box, and burning the house to the ground?? About 3 months ago, I used Thwart bed bug spray, it seemed to work, didnt have any bed bugs for the 3 months. Now theyre back! Mainly in my sons bed, and they LOVE him unfortunetly. I used the rest of the spray that I had. I went to look online for the website where the spray was bought, no website. My aunt called the 1-800 number…its disconnected. I just want to know if anyone has used any good bug sprays for them. Im not that rich to afford an exterminator, they just keep comming back! Help!
Oh yeah, I’ll just let my family sleep on the floor…thats stupid, you gonna buy me a new matress?

How do can you tell if you have a bed bug infestation?

Posted by admin on July 26th, 2009

My boyfriend lives in an apartment building. Over the past few months I notices bumps all over my body and becoming very itchy over night. We did find that the apartment has bed bugs and I may have possibly been taking them home with me unknowingly to my house. I saw a total of 6-7 bedbugs in my house. Does that mean my house id infested?? Also we bought tons of bed bug spray and bombs. I have not got bitten in the last two-three days so does that mean it worked??

Homemade Natural Insecticide and Repellent Recipes

Having access to natural insecticides is easier than you think. There are natural alternatives that do not make you glow in the dark after you have applied them to your home and garden.

Homemade natural bed bug insecticide does not only help our planet but they also cut the immediate risk to our families and loved ones. Many natural insecticides can be easily and quickly made up at home.

Not only are natural insecticides less toxic in general, but also many of them are more effective than their commercial counterpart. Making your own can save you some money in the long run, as commercial insect repellents can be costly and not necessarily affective.

Garden mix. Take the dried leaves of lavender, tobacco, rosemary, and Pyrethrum daisy. You can then mix all of these together and use it as a powder, or they can be steeped overnight in water and then strained into a spray bottle. Each of these plants can be used individually but often gardeners will combine them.

During the summer months we spend more time outdoors children are often in the grass playing late into the evening and many of us worked in our gardens once the temperature has cooled down. It seems as the sun goes down the bugs come out. Check out this recipe for natural insecticides homemade insect repellent that can be safely used instead of those toxic commercial sprays. This just a sampling of what can be made to help you in your quest to eradicate pests around your home.

bed bugs exterminateSoak the following in water:
Lemon peels and/or orange peels
Mint leaves and/or sage leaves
Lavender leaves

If you can soak them all overnight, in the morning you’ll have a strong mixture. After straining this use 1/2 of this mixture and add some witch-hazel to make up the other half. Simply lightly spray yourself down with this mixture and you should be good to go in the evening. This natural insecticide is safe on the children and pets as well.

A natural insecticide that works as a flea repellent for dogs that will save you a lot of money can be whipped up in the kitchen in a matter of minutes. It should be noted however that this repellent should not be used on cats as citrus is toxic to them in large amounts.

You basically make a tea out of citrus peels, it doesn’t matter what type, lemon peels, or orange peels, any type of citrus peels will work. You put the peels in water and boil. After they have cooled, you strain the liquid and then rub it into his or her coat, during the final rinse of the bath. This kills fleas as well as acts as a repellent for any that might be lurking around the yard. Do not use on cats, as it is toxic to them!

As we all know citronella has been added to candles and sprays for quite some time. Citronella is an excellent repellent and can be classified in homemade natural insecticides. Also chamomile seems to make mosquitoes run the other way. Combining about 1 ounce each of these two plants leaves together and boiling them in a gallon of water, is a highly effective repellent.

Another natural insecticide that has been around for centuries in the Middle East is Neem oil. Although in the United States it has gained in popularity in the past few years. Neem oil is biodegradable and very low toxicity and seems to be in everything from toothpaste to pharmaceuticals. This natural insecticide works as a systemic that is absorbed into the plant and then ingested by feeding insects.

Neem oil is highly effective as an natural insecticide for the treatment of head lice, but it may be used in the garden, you can mix 1 ounce of Neem Oil to 1.3 gallons of water to spray around your yard.

Utilizing homemade natural insecticide within the garden and around your home may take a little effort in their preparation but in the long run and not only will save money, but you are reducing the risk to your family and the environment. There are many more powerful natural insecticide products that will do the job, you just need guidance as to which formulas will be effective for you. The great thing is that you will have an unlimited supply of product which has cost next to nothing and does an excellent job as well.
