has anyone killed bed bugs on their own without an exterminator?
How To Kill Bed Bugs August 24th, 2011I have bed bugs in my apartment this is the first time i ever have this its annoying i cannot afford an exterminator and my landlord thinks its too much to pay for i have talked to her about this issue millions of times in the last month and she refuses to help! just four days ago i started using my own home remedies i got the iron and started ironing all my mattress and carpet! in the room the steam helped a lot i haven’t gotten bit but i’ve been steaming in everyday i threw away clothes bagged up all the shoes sprayed hot shot on them and closed it my clothes i haven’t done because i don’t have enough money to wash every clothing item and what not i threw out some furniture that was inside the room. Today i am doing the living room i took out my center table and the chairs my dinner table and chairs sprayed them also and I’m gonna do the couch and leave it outside as well gonna try to iron the whole carpet in the living room…. there’s another room too but i cant clean that one as much as i would like to cause we rented but its seems like ever since that person moved in we got this issue i try to clean it when that person is not here but its impossible i wish i could just throw everything in that room away! I’m frustrated i can take it anymore i wanna runaway haha but anyways has anyone used any of their own home remedies and how have you gotten rid of those filthy bugs and cheap products you guys recommend or anything please help!

I too got rid of them simply using a spray brought from a store, The secret is FINDING them. You need a magnifying glass to look in the creases and seams of the mattress etc. Then take the bedframe apart. MIne were hiding where the brackets held the legs to the frame.
Good Hunting !

I’m sorry to hear you’re having this problem. I have been there and successfully gotten rid of them without bringing in a exterminator, or using any form of chemicals.
it’s a lot of work and it is going to take awhile.
What you’re doing so far is great. Continue to steam everything, it’s best i you can actually get a steamer (we got lucky and were able to borrow one from a family member) if you can’t borrow one you might have to rent one, sorry I don’t know the cost of them.
So steam everything that you can steam, walls, floors, furniture. The little buggers can get into the tiniest little cracks. With the clothing you don’t have to wash it all, throwing them in the dryer will work as well. I’m assuming you use a laundry mat? Just using the dryer should lower the cost. Any other items that cannot be washed or steamed you can place them in garbage bags and put them in your freezer (not sure if you have a deep freeze, but that would be best.
As for the person you’re rented the other room to, make them clean it, or ask them to leave. Because unfortunately if you miss a couple you’re going to be over run again in no time.
I’m not sure were you’re located but you might want to look in the landlord and tenant act for your area because I do know in certain places the landlords DO have to pay for any cost for the removal of bed bugs.
